Brief Author Bio:

Writer Amanda Church has lived around the world as military brat and member, worked for 20 years as a tech and copy writer and editor, has completed 6 trunk novels and countless short stories, and has an indefatigable desire to make the current UF WIP, Return of the Light, "the one."

Synopsis: Red

Red has a bad habit of sticking her nose in things that could get her killed, so when she decides to poke around after a drive-by shooting, she suddenly finds herself knee-deep in a plot to restore the Unseelie Court to power. As if that wasn't enough, she's got a zealous pack of wizards after her and has just discovered a secret about her own past even she didn't know.

Excerpt: Red

Twilight, and the air stunk like trouble. A hot orange sun burrowed into the horizon as the truck swallowed the last of a fifty dollar bill; it was looking like dinner at the mission again.

I paid the attendant in the tiny kiosk, noting the green Olds that swung slowly around the corner, heading east. Prowling; I knew the look. I tracked it as I climbed into the truck and coaxed it to life. Checked my mirrors; stalled. One minute. Two.

Four shots shattered the sultry stillness. I put the truck in gear and followed my ears. The green Olds was disappearing in a cloud of white smoke when I rounded the corner. I heard a woman scream, saw the crumpled form laying against the curb. Even in the gathering darkness I could see the crimson pool spreading beneath it. It still amazed me how red blood could look.
