Brief Author Bio: Kevin Norberg is a native Minnesota actor-director, composer and writer who is having difficulty making ends meet because they keep moving the ends. He is also a part-time humorist, meaning he is funny only part of the time. Norberg is a professional actor-director who has performed on stage for audiences totaling more than 1.5 million. He is also a professional singer, and a published author and composer (ASCAP). Norberg was a member and recording artist with the renowned Dale Warland Singers, one of the world’s finest professional vocal ensembles, earning a nomination for a Grammy award (2004). Norberg starred as Tevye in the world’s first non-Equity production of FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. Since then, he’s performed the role for dozens of venues, at international conventions, and even on national television. After "3 years of research and 7 years of procrastination," Kevin Norberg is writing TEVYE and THE STREETS OF GOLD, the long-awaited sequel to FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. Norberg wanted to know “the rest of the story...” What happens to these characters as immigrants to America? Does Tevye finally strike it rich? What about the two youngest daughters - Shprintze and Bielke? Do they find a better life on the Streets of Gold? Kevin Norberg began crafting his sequel from plot threads found in the century-old stories of Sholem Aleichem, on which FIDDLER was also based. Norberg is writing an adaptation of his original story as:
On behalf of Norwegians everywhere, and himself of Norwegian ancestry, Norberg begs the world's forgiveness for the actions of the Norwegian Nobel Committee in awarding this year's Peace Prize, and wishes to remind everyone that Norwegians are generally a decent, humble, common-sensical, thoughtful, intelligent, stoic people, with little or no sense of humor. Exceptions to this include this author and a few boobs on the Norwegian Nobel Committee. Of all the people who make their home in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Kevin Norberg is one of them. |

Synopsis: TEVYE & THE STREETS OF GOLD (The Sequel to FIDDLER ON THE ROOF)
TEVYE AND THE STREETS OF GOLD is the long-awaited sequel to one of Broadway’s most beloved and critically-acclaimed musicals – FIDDLER ON THE ROOF. Inspired by the same characters and stories of Sholem Aleichem on which FIDDLER was based, Kevin Norberg's sequel follows Tevye, the pious milkman-philosopher, on a new adventure to America.
The tales of Tevye and his daughters have remained some of the most enduring and popular celebrations of family since Sholem Aleichem published the first installment of his classic stories in 1894. Now these inspirational characters make the trek across two continents and an ocean in an uplifting new novel: TEVYE AND THE STREETS OF GOLD.
Told through laughter and tears, the story follows Tevye’s trek to the New World, where the Dairyman of Delancey Street hopes to make a better life for his children. Set against the backdrop of Ellis Island in 1911, Tevye and his daughters face the squalor of New York’s Lower East Side, while struggling with acceptance or assimilation in their new homeland.
Shprintze and Bielke aspire to be “real” Americans and will do anything to escape the intolerable conditions of their tenement sweatshop. One daughter chooses a fairytale romance with a millionaire assimilationist. The other chooses to force change by confronting the sweatshop boss, which dooms her own romance and threatens her family. Meanwhile, on the Streets of Gold, Tevye makes a small fortune and blows it, all on the same day.
When the Jewish immigrants and tenement dwellers confront the privileged class and their concept of the American “Melting Pot,” Tevye learns that acceptance among strangers may come at a high price.
TEVYE AND THE STREETS OF GOLD is a story of laughter and love, wit and charm, of acceptance and assimilation, and the American Dream of every immigrant to make a better life while remaining true to oneself.
Excerpt: TEVYE & THE STREETS OF GOLD (The Sequel to FIDDLER ON THE ROOF)
Money once swore an oath that nobody who did not love it should ever have it.
So here is the first first of all: I made a small fortune and lost it, all on the same day. So that makes me a capitalist. Ha! Join the club! Rags to riches and back again in a New York minute. It shouldn’t happen to your mother-in-law. And now that I’ve been rich and I’ve been poor, I’ll tell you: rich is better.
So, even in America, nothing new has changed. But, this is the Land of Promise! There’s even hope for a poor, simple Jew like myself to strike it big in this country.
Only in America! If you can’t improve your situation, at least you can laugh at it. You have to laugh. When humor goes, the whole world goes with it.
