Howdy! I'm here!

The reason India doesn't have a forum is because no one from India has volunteered to be an ML - Municipal Liaison, which is what's required in order to have a forum. If you or someone else from India volunteers to be an ML, a forum will follow quite quickly - in the past, it's been a matter of hours to a couple of days for a new forum to be set up.

Hey!

Good to see you again! :)

'Course I'm willing to be an ML, but I think there was something about the ML having to be atleast 18 years of age? Well, I'm six months from turning eighteen, and if its possible, would love to be ML of the India forum!

Cheerio!

Yep, there's an 18 or over requirement, along with the person having done NaNo at least once before.

You could always contact Erin and see what she says. I understand her reasoning behind it. Barring that, perhaps someone else will step up and volunteer.

aloha Jyoti!

great to see you here!

Yeah, we always have a thread for India running in this forum, one of the reasons we've been campaigning for a forum of our own, another reason being the number of people taking part has been increasing from year to year.. Anyway, I volunteered to, I did do nano last year as well, but quite unfortunately am seven months away from turning 18, so there!

We'll just have to find someone else we can bully on becoming ML *looks around*

So.. any plans about what you're going to write about?

The other thing is that, when a region has an ML, not only do they get a forum of their very own (bright and shiny!) but they also get swag. In past years, it's been stickers, pins, temporary tattoos. No idea what it'll be this year...

o i wish i knew! how i WISH i knew..
anyway from experience in short story writing at least i know it's good to take the story as it comes and there inevitably IS some plot in your head, waiting for a deadline to knock it out of there and onto paper!
i've never tried my hand at a novel before, so it should be fun (did i say fun?!?! no, no, i meant hours of torture, insomnia and irritability). haha. it's all good!

so in a nutshell did i mention I HAVE NO IDEA :(

I'm the one person from Laos who does NaNo every year. Looking forward to November, when the rains have stopped and the air is cool!

hey,

Sorry could not reply earlier, the site has been inaccessible/dead slow for me..

Anyway, I'm sure you'll come up with something by november, if not, its even more fun to plunge into some very intensive writing without knowing what'll come out. 'Tis a peculiar charm of making sense of nonsense :D besides its the same thing as your short story writing experience, you'll find that your plot and characters develop a mind of their own, and do incredibly inconvenient things.

It is fun... loads. And truly, its not as scary as it sounds... besides you'll have plenty of frenzied writers in here to gripe too :D

Chittz, at this time of year, Erin's crazy busy trying to get things fixed and working - there have been some pretty serious MLing-type issues this year because of the changes in software. She's warned us that it may take a couple of days or longer to respond to emails right now. So, my suggestion is just to give it some time while she puts out all the fires. :)

Lol. I think all this nano excitement is getting to me :D I really missed the forums.. good to have them back AND a site that agrees to jog along instead of the creeping it has been doing for the last week..

So then... what is everyone writing about?

I gave up trying to make sense after last year, so this year am going into a full-fledged nonsense novel that switches genre everyday. (as in every 1500-2000 words is to be of a different genre). Much more difficult I know, but also a lot more fun! :D

They're in the process of delisting MLs who are no longer going to be MLs, and when that's done, they'll start on creating the new MLs and the new regional lounges. I was told a few days ago they hope to be done by the end of the weekend (their time zone), but since that's only another 12 hours, it might be a bit longer... Ash, has Erin gotten back to you about you being an ML? I do know they're behind but working on things. :)

Also, feel free to start India-specific threads, and when an India forum has been created, those threads can be moved over by me (assuming I have the relevant powers by then) or Erin. Just label then in the subject line with "India: ", for example. :)

This goes for any other country-specific threads - just label it appropriately, and when/if a regional forum is created, I'll move it.

@quidscribis: no news from anyone about the ML thing. I guess we should wait and see. Your idea about moving India-specific threads is a good one. Thanks!

Ash, check the "Want to be an ML" thread for further updates. I figure it makes more sense to keep all the ML-related discussion there since there are at least two of you waiting to become an ML. :)
