Welcome, everyone! It's a new NaNoWriMo season! Woohoooooo!!!!!
Please post an introduction and tell us what you're thinking about writing.
I'll start... I guess... *gulp* I'm Laurie, and I'm the ML (Municipal Liaison) for Sri Lanka. That means that I get the goodies from HQ to hand out to participants in the area. It also means that I'm responsible for herding you guys and organizing the launch and the Thank Goodness It's Over get-togethers. :D
I usually write science fiction, but this year, I'm taking a departure and writing fantasy. I'm still in the process of figuring out the finer details of what happens and world building and all that jazz. I know that my two main characters are 11 or 12 and screw things up very very badly for their world to the point of near destruction and exposing their people to the outside world.
So. What about you?

Hi Laurie!!!
(I'll start off by saying I miss you!! :] Been way too long since I've emailed you.)
And, technically, I suppose I should not really be in this region, as I don't live there anymore. But I can't leave! Drag me away if you dare!
Anyways. My name is Lou. I'm seventeen, and Laurie's niece.
I actually live in Canada - Edmonton, Alberta to be precise.
And this year, I'm straying from my usual genre as well. Instead of writing fantasy, I'm headed towards historical fiction, I think. Not too sure yet, though. I may end up adding fantasy because it's just so easy, and it lets my imagination run away from me screaming.
My book this year though, came from a dream. Or a song. I honestly can't remember which. It was rather random.
----------But, there will be chapters following different people, and how one person or event effect them. A Gander Down Memory Lane, as it is titled at the moment, will be memories of various characters and how this one thing had a huge impact on their lives. I really don't know who this person, or what this even is yet though. I haven't put a huge amount of thought into it as of yet. Really, I am basing the novel on a title. Hopefully it will work.
Bottom the Weaver: Since lion vile hath here deflowered my dear...
Peter Quince: DEVOURED.

I miss you, too, Lou! It's been way too long! And sad and pathetic that we communicate over forums... *sigh* *laughs*
Glad to know you're doing NaNo again this year. Are you managing to do it for school credit again? That'd be cool. :D And no one's dragging you away from here! No one! *stares* :D

Hello!
I'm going to be writing my nano novel in London but will be in Colombo from the 30th for a 2 week holiday to visit my parents. Hopefully I'll have finished it by the time I'm on the plane, but I may be frantically scribbling away at the airport. I probably won't be able to make the Thank God it's Over party if you are going to have one (as my parents and dog are very possessive over my time there) but I'll be there in spirit.
Happy plotting and writing!

I may be a foreigner, but I'm married to a local, so I know exactly what you're talking about! I hope you have a great visit with your family. :)
Don't know yet when (if?) the party will be. I'll certainly be posting about it here when the time approaches, so if you have the free time and the interest, you're more than welcome to attend. :) I'm also hoping - for your sake - that you don't end up having to write the last bits either in the airport or on the plane.
Happy plotting and writing to you, too! Do you know yet what you'll be writing?

I was thinking of doing something literary. I wrote a murder mystery set in 1930s London last year which was really fun to plot and write and featured a Sri Lankan scholar, so thought I'd try something different this year. It's a good way of practising different writing styles. But I haven't got a concrete plot yet so will be thinking furiously until Thursday when hopefully I'll start writing.

Good luck and I hope something comes to you. Your last year's book sounds interesting. And yep, I'm also using NaNoWriMo to experiment a bit - until now, I thought I'd never write fantasy, but here I am...

How do you feel about write-ins or that sort of thing? And... have you tried roping in anyone else you know here? :D At this point in time, it appears that it's just the two of us. I can't even get my writer husband to join in, the party pooper. But I submitted an article to the Sunday Times on NaNoWriMo, and I'm waiting to hear if they'll publish it, and I've also got an article coming out in the C3 magazine, so hopefully that'll help to generate some interest.
Thanks for checking in! I'm glad you're here! :)
