Hey guys!
Just wondering if there are any other North Qlders out there?
Townsville here, going to attempt to tackle Uni, exams, work and Nano!
Should be interesting.

Well, at the moment, I'm basing my story around college life, since I'm still living on college, and including all crazy things that happen at college. So I guess that could take me anywhere. I've just got to sit down and actually decide which controversial things I'm going to have to include!
And since everyone on college thinks I'm crazy for attempting Nano and exams at the same time, I'm glad I have a fellow student to go through the ordeal with :P

Hi! ^_^
I'm from a bit further north; in Cairns. =) I've wanted to do NaNoWriMo for a few years, but keep forgetting to sign up. XD Good thing I remembered this year!
I'm also in Grade 12, and will hopefully be able to balance school work and writing! XD

Yeye~ Hi! Well, if you have grad (and exams) the same time as I do, then we only have to worry about, like, 8 days of exams, then graduation and schoolies. Talking about which... are you going to schoolies? I'm lucky and am going down to Brissy, doing all the nano meet things down there instead of festifities though xD
I've wanted to do it for a few years, but school really got in the way... I didn't really feel confident enough to keep up good grades and write a novel.... But I thought this year: what the heck! QCS is over! Who cares??
So anyway... Perhaps what is most important here is what is your novel! Has anyone got an idea yet?

Gladstone???? No freaking way me too! 18, first year IT student at CQU!
I've got all my plot points and characters all sorted to write, I'm just tweaking it so it ends up where it should. The plot seemed to write itself when I was working through it.

Haha, the sooner the exams are over, the better! xD Nah, not going to schoolies; going to homestay in California for three weeks in December instead. =3
I've wanted to do NaNoWriMo for a few years as well; but didn't purely for the reason that I keep forgetting about it! xD Got in bright and early this year though! And yes, thank gawd QCS is over! Just a few more weeks to go till freedom!
I have a few firm ideas for what I could write; but it'll be the actual writing part that will be difficult. xD I've worked out that we need to write at least 1,700 (roughly) each day to make the 50,000 in a month. =)

I haven't thought about it like that, I'm not going to think about the wordcount as a write, I've got my scenes planned out so I know that I'll make the word count just by writing them out as they play in my head. I unfortunately am taking a week away to spend at the Sunny Coast to 'supervise' some mates on schoolies. Don't ask how it works cause it won't ;).

Hi everyone :)
I am from Mackay. This will be my first year of NaNoWrMo - slightly freaked out by it! Terrified I will run out of plot ideas and not make the word count.
Just a plug www.inkstains.wordsoffiction.net - Is a writing community that I just started. It includes a thread for NaNo as well as short stories, cripts, poetry, fiction etc. Come join the madness!

Hi
I'm afraid I'm the oldest here!
I have just contracted with a friend in US to write our novels together in nanowrimo.
Good luck to you all and I will check and see how we are all doing.

Ooooooh! All these Nth Queenslanders! Makes me feel all warm and fuzzy. Or at least a little less alone in my insanity!
Good to see so many people up this way ready to give it a go, especially with exams as well... you must be nuts!
This'll be my 7th crazy outing, and I've no idea what I'm going to write about... perhaps an amusing guide to procrastinating on forums... :p

Hello All,
And a particularly big Hello to Coxy! Great to see you back for another year of Nano madness.
A huge hello to GoldSJ from Gladstone. This is the first time in Nano history that 2 people from Happy Rock have participated. If all goes to plan, hopefully a third will join up in the next week or so... it could happen!
Looking forward to seeing all your word counts soaring to the 50k mark.
Cheers,
Greg

LeonHarte!!! A third person in Gladstone... I will have to lie down for a while with a cold towel on my forehead : )
Could it be too much to hope for four? Perhaps I'm pushing it too far.
Go you crazy bohemians!

Hehe, don't stress too much, I didn't even come close to finishing last year. Just makes you more determined to win the next year :P
If anything's scary, it's getting to two weeks before nano, and totally changing your main plot theme. But anyway, good luck drovers!
And I thought I'd just add that I actually live in Sarina, though I realise that I shouldn't be admitting that! And thanks for the link.

Greg! Woot! Good to see you back yet again! I'll be hassling you, and expecting you to hassle me back, as we chase our way through the month.
I think I'm almost getting excited! (And this year - internet access for the whole month!)

Hahaha, further up north than anyone so far! Hello from Cooktown. This is my third year doing Nano, and it should be a breeze compared to previous years - finishing grade 12 in the middle of November gives me a lot of spare time to write and write and write and write until my keyboard falls to bits.
So, anyone got any idea what genre their novels are heading towards?

w00t! so many Northqueenslanders, I just signed up (literally) and I'm glad I won't be the only one in townsville crazy enough to tackle final uni exams and NaNoWriMo at the same time. Still this is my first attempt so if I got all my digets by the 30th that'll be enough for me XD.
P.s. am I correct in assuming the Townsville uni students here are from JCU?

Yeah Coxy!
Did you finish last year? I couldn't sign into the Nano site to check up on you. My server kept blocking me out for some reason. Changed to a new server this year, and no worries, hooray! I started, and for the first time ever didn't finish... moving house, changed position @ work.. stress, stress, stress. This year, my friend I'm So ready, that I want to start writing now : ) (but haven't).
A six pack of James Squire porter beer lies idly in my fridge awaiting the 50k mark. I can hear it calling to me late at night...
Ok mate good to hear from you again! Even greater to see the new Gladdy entrants though.
Somethings happening in this town. Folk are coming out of the woodwork and playing music in the pubs again, and even in the library square. New writers are appearing out of nowhere, and I for one, couldn't be more thrilled.
Let's do this thing.

Enough Townsvillians here for write-ins during the coming month? I counted 4 on author search, but I don't know if there are more lurkers?

I'd be down for that, I was worried when I signed up there there'd be like... no Townsvillians and I'd loose motivation before the end of the first week :-P
Are there any good internet cafe's in Townsville? I know of a gaming bunk apparently near Grammer school but otherwise I've no idea.

Sweet idea! I'd say that'd be a really interesting project to pull off. I'm headed for my usual genre of fantasy - its all I ever write in, really.

Hiya!
I'm from Mackay too. Wow. I didn't think Mackay was big enough for there to be two of us... I thought about doing NaNoWriMo last year, but didn't so this is my first year. I probably get the youngest, I'm just 15. =)
drovers-sunrise considering how small our fair town is, I probably know you, or know someone who knows you.

Hell yeah, I'd be up for it.
At least there seems to be a fair few of us this year, so it should be worth a go. And coffee is my complete November diet...

Heh. I made sure I finished, although it was the biggest pile of crap so far. But I was without net access most of the month, and only just managed to get my word count verified in time.
And true to form, with November coming up, I decided to move. Still waiting on net access at home but it should get sorted soon.
Still trying to pick the right bottle of wine for my celebratory intoxication, but I'm sure it'll be well earned.
PS. I'm watching your word count already!

Isn't there one in town? Near the Australian Ice-creamery?
Coffee is god's gift to humans, seriously *o*; Straight after the internets and... and aeroguard. I'm getting eaten alive here!
EDIT:
Intermax (lookit on Yellowpages) or the Internet Lounge (http://www.yourcity.com.au/details/463)
Internet Lounge is cool with laptops and I don't know about you guys but that would be good for me. Neither have coffee though!

Well the Lounge has Redbull which I suppose will do as a substitute for coffee (I know many-a can of V got me through last years finals in absence of good coffee) but then 6 dollar's an hour can wrack up a fair cost, then again Intermax might not be much better... I might give them both a call and see if they got group discounts for pre-bookings...
Also since our NaNoWriMo doesn't technically start till ~4pm Thursday (I think, one of the NaNo vets here might want to correct me) did we want to have a Write-in blitz then?
EDIT: My bad, we start November 1st just as the clock ticks over to 12:00:01, will out Author excepts/word count activate then too? Will we have until 11:59:59 on the 30th to submit our novels or do we get an extra number of hours because the servers work on PST or something?
