Opening Night Writeathon

Sounds like fun.
Unfortunately, I'm 2 hours away and that will be hubby's first night home from 2-week job stint (he left today).

On the up-side, he'll be in bed by 10 so as soon as the clock rolls over, I'll be typing away madly - keeping you company long distance.

I'm wanting to as well, but I'm not really 100% on all night. I've blown all of my skips already in all of my classes, so I'd have to cut out at like 2ish or something so I could make it to class on time. Perchance though?

I'm up for something, but I may just stay up until 2-ish like Jayke. I have morning classes as well that I don't want to skip. Well, actually... depends on how "in the zone" I get. :)

For such a late-night writeathon, we could meet at the DownUnder here on Drury's campus like we did last year. It never closes.

It doesn't? I thought it closed at midnight. That's a possibility. And people can stay or come and go as they like.

The DownUnder is just a region of a building (the Student Center) that is always open, to my knowledge. You may be thinking of the CX, which is where we sat in the back room with TVs and ordered food. The CX closes at 11. The DownUnder is where we had our opening night write-in last year (all in Halloween costumes!), and we stayed there for a while. But you wouldn't have been there, I guess...

Wait a minute, I just realized November 1 is a Thursday! I thought it was a Friday. I don't have any classes until 2 PM on Thursday! I can SO stay up all night and not miss a thing! Huzzah! All-night writeathon, here I come!

I really would like to find a place that has food and beverages and things if we're going to be there for hours unless we all want to volunteer to bring something along to share with the group.

Anyone else have suggestions of somewhere to go?

Hmmm, the first falling on a Thursday is wonderful for me :D I am not working and could be available if ya'll chose to do it. I do live about an hour or so north of town (Stockton Lake) but that shouldn't be a problem on that day. As for places to meet up or whatever I don't get down to Springfield near often enough to even know what is what or where anything is anymore.

OK...Kevin at Cassil's might be willing to stay open for us to have the opening night write-in if we can generate enough folks to make it worth his while. I know some of the college folks don't have cars so we can work on carpools if needed. Ok you are gonna have to help me out. I've never heard of this Cassil's (tells you how out of touch I am with Springfield eh?) or where it's at. I'll be coming in through Willard so out by the airport. I don't mind giving a ride to whomever on my way across town. As long as you don't care that my car has no radio :( Heck I might even clean it out :D Ok it's not that bad...yet. I'm not working so outside of something bizarre happening I don't see any reason why I can't attend.

Cassil's is located on south side of Springfield on Republic Road near Golden. Their website is www.cassils.com if you want to see a map and their menu. He didn't say for sure he would do it but if I can go back with a list of ten to fifteen people saying they'd show up even for a few hours it might sway him.

Of course, we'd all have to name a character in our novels Kevin Cassil as a thank you. (Just kidding.)

Ah okies I know the area. Having grown up in Republic I know the main roads and any landmark that has existed for 15ish years :D I can find mall with my eyes closed! Ok, officially count my head. And I may even be able to swing a Kevin in the novel :P

I may or may not be able to go to Cassil's, but if I do, you each owe me $5 for showing up.

OK, I'll let people post here or e-mail through the weekend and I'll ask Kevin on Monday if we can do it. If not, we'll find somewhere else we can meet up for an opening night shindig.

I know I am basically a newbie since I didn't partake in any of the get togethers last year and therefore as a newbie kinda sketchy. However, I'm basically a sane person, if you don't mind laundry obsessions. I have no problem whatsoever giving whomever a ride as long as we can all fit in my car. I'll probably be in Springfield early that day to do a bit of shoe shopping and then hanging out at the library to get my fill of good internet (I love wifi) since I have dial up at home.

Well, I don't think we have enough to justify asking Kevin to stay open two hours past when they usually close. I'm working on a new location that's already open 24 hours to see if we'd be welcome. Keep checking this thread over the next 24 hours.

Not going to make it to this write-in, but I will be attending the Panera write-ins on Thursday night and Saturday, and plan to get up at about 5 or 6-ish tomorrow morning to start things off. So, for those attending, and for all others about to write...word. Literal word. =P
