Hi all!

I'm new to Perth (one of those pesky Working Holiday People) and I think it would be great to put some faces to some names out there. Are we planning any pre, during or post NaNo meet ups? Because meeting up with people would make life even better. (I can ask them where I can get good coffee.)

Hi, I'm the local ML. Yes, there will be a pre-November coffee afternoon, then a late-evening to past midnight write in on the 31st October/1st November. Then we usually have Sunday aftternoon write ins through the month. There's a retreat booked for the last weekend in November. Then there's a Thank God It's Over gathering in early December.

Nothing is set in stone yet (apart from the retreat) because I owe my publisher a cyberpunk novella on October 15th and it's not finished yet.

I'll post details after the 15th. No one do anything that requires moderating until then, please.

Current word count 17 342. Total required 20 000. I'm nearly there.

See you there,

I'm Mike, 19 years old at UWA and doing my first year of NaNo =). I'm sure you'll be able to stick a face to my name at the pre-November gathering, which I'll definately be at. Feeling positive, but no idea whether I'll get to 50k ^_^.

Hi all!

My name is Nicky, I'm 23 and I'm also from Perth, W.A. I've lived in Perth pretty much all of my life, but this is the very first time I have participated in NaNo. I only actually heard about in late September this year, so my planning has been a bit rushed, but it's getting there. I also work more or less full time, so I'm not sure how I'll go with fitting in writing a whole novel in one month. But I'm game to at least give it a go!

I think this is a great idea, even if you don't achieve the 50, 000 words, you will probably at least have something to keep working at, at the end of the month.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to reading excerts from other Perth author's novels as the month progresses!

Bye for now,

Nicky

Hi, I'm Liza. I'm new to NaNoWriMo, but have loved writing since I was very little. I'm 19 and moved to Perth from Alabama at the end of 2005. I'd love to meet up with some new people who love to write - none of my friends are really interested in writing.

Hi, I'm Stacey, 24 years old, married with 2 children, and 2007 will mark my 3rd year participating in NaNoWriMo. I'm hoping it will also mark my 3rd "Win".

Unfortunately this year, which possibly would have been the one year where I could have made it to Sunday afternoon meet ups, I won't be able to.

What was supposed to be a lovely relaxing November, filled with time off, until the up and coming birth of my daughter, has turned into a maddening time, as my little daughter, decided to make her entrance into the world, some 12 weeks early. Lilia Fae, is currently keeping her father and I quite busy, with daily trips to the hospital to visit. Her big brother, must think its great, as he's spent more time in the last 2 weeks in the company of Grandparents then he has in his entire 22 months of life.

Anyway, I plan on completing NaNoWriMo, this year, despite the business of my schedule. So if you don't see me around much, its because I'm busily typing away on my laptop that is deliberately NOT connected to the internet, so as to get the word count happening.

Hi,

Great to find out there's others in Perth doing this. It's my first time so I'm not sure how I'll go.

I'm planning on writing a kids novel and it's sequel (if I make it that far!) in November. I've done the outline for one and am currently brain storming the other. Got one day to go!

I'm 35, have two kids and live in Hamersley, mid-northern suburbs.

Where are the Sunday write-ins happening?

Cheers,

Sonia

All the write ins (which are on three Saturdays and a Sunday, through November) are happening at Fantastic Planet Bookshop, Shafto Lane, Perth. Shafto Lane runs between Hay and Murray Sts, opposite Cloisters Square. Shop phone number is 94818393, if you need directions.

Hi,

well, that's it. I'm officially insane.

Here I am, signing up for the month, just a little over half an hour from start time, and with no real clue what I'm even going to write about. What a great start!

I've never done this before, though I've read about it on friends live journals for the last few years.
Then, a few days ago, a certain Perth dwelling writer friended me on My Space. I read that he's doing NaNoWriMo, and I thought, well, why not give it a go? Nothing to lose but my last few remaining marbles.

I've never written anything remotely like a novel, though all my life I've thought I'd like to.
It will be interesting to see how far I can go, given that I have trouble finding the discipline to even see a short story through to conclusion these days. I used to love to write when I was at school, though.

The word target is daunting, but my eldest daughter insists it will be no trouble.
"Mum, you write emails longer than that!"

I have a couple of ideas. One is a sort of not-quite-sci-fi, not-quite-fantasy thing, with a comic twist. One is a fantasy. Oh - and last night I had the stirrings of a third idea - for a kids story, or more like a collection of stories about the one character....

I haven't worked out which to do, never mind gone as far as any sort of outline.
This is why I've left it so late to sign up. Thought I should go in with a plan of attack, or not at all.

Then, the madness took me.
I thought, I'll just sign up and take it from there.

So, some time in the next hour, I just have to pick a story and start writing.

My name's Betty. I dwell in the Hills. Married with three children.

I look forward to keeping in touch as we tap away towards the 30th.

ahh I never even saw this thread!

This is my first year, and I'm officially freaked out. I know I should be writing now, but just this morning I decided to throw out my original plot and try something different...um, bad idea. VERY bad idea. Anyways, my name is Mimi, I'm 17, spent 13 years living in Germany, 3 in the US, and one in Perth. You know, just thought I'd introduce myself even though I found this place so late it's almost pathetic. I'm going to attempt writing this in English, since my English is fairly decent, but I'll probably constantly carry a dictionary around with me, just in case.

Well, I guess I should stop procrastinating...

Good luck everyone!!

Hi

I'm Jen and this is my first NaNo. I'm SOR. I have no clue yet what I'll write but I know it will mostly be done very early in the morning. I would love to catch up with anyone but I doubt it will be possible this year because I have a toddler and a newborn which is not conducive to meets:)

Good luck to everybody.

It's so awesome to see so many new people on the Perth forum this year :) Welcome guys, and good luck!

I'm actually on holiday in America (arrived back at the beginning of October) and don't get home til December, so I'm only going to make a half-assed attempt at NaNo this year - the holiday comes first! But best of luck to everyone writing back in Perth :)

Greetings all,
I'm officially Alex, though here I'm Raphael and in most of my other interweb haunts I'm Charlie. Confused yet? This is my first NaNoWriMo, though I thought long and hard about doing it last year, and decided against it at the last minute. I'm a second year at UWA, which means, oh joy, I have exams next week! That means my novel writing is gonna be quite slow at the moment, and it will be a mad catch-up mid-month.

Hope you're all being less insane about your scheduling!

Hello fellow Perthies!

A little late to the party, hope you're all going great guns and the word counts are chugging along :) I'm Jen, I'm 27 and this is my first NaNo. I'm not new to writing, though, I've been writing ever since I was a kid and hope, eventually, to make a career of it The story I'm working on for NaNo is something I've been thinking about for a very long time and hopefully this is going to give me the kick in the pants I need to finally write it.

Would be great to meet up with some of you guys! Suffering shared is suffering....well.....shared o.O

Well, I've been lurking for a couple of days and being a newbie I guess I better announce myself.
I'm a perth boy born and bred. My name is Kou Eihou if read in the right language and dialect. Although it can be read any one of hundreds of ways as I can write my name in characters that exist in CJK (FYI CJK = chinese japanese korean). Engineer by trade, writing is my release. Although I draw and play music (drums and guitar) too.

My novel is heading in the general direction of being a sci-fi mystery romance kind of novel. I have characters and a end game in mind but how they will get there even I don't know yet.
