I'm guilty, I wrote part of the third scene of my novel, about 500 words. My theory is...
There is no "winning", so if I'm "cheating", I'm cheating against myself.
The whole idea of NaNo is to motivate you to get something down on paper, right? If you jot down a few paragraphs beforehand then the program has served it's purpose, right...?
Right??? :-P
And if you disagree, I have a whole slough of other excuses which are free for anyone else to take.

Actually a few months ago, I had the opening scene in my head and I knewwww I'd forget it if I didn't get it down on paper, so.. I did. Only around 200 words. I don't think I'll actually be using it though (because it really didn't look that good once it was out of my head and on paper hahaha).
