Okay, I figure we should start planning when and where to do a kick-off party as early as possible so people can put it on their calendar. A kick-off party, for those of you not in the know, is basically a party where all the Nanowrimo participants in the area get together--usually at some eating establishment--unless someone is brave enough to loan us their house--and eat and talk about the craziness that will ensue during November. There's also the possibility that the Moscow kick-off will be combined with the Pullman kick-off. The more the merrier, I'd say.
So if you're interested, just post in this thread (or PM me if you're too shy) the answers to the following survey questions and we'll muddle through some consensus before the actual party.
I have few preferences--I will happily go along with whatever everyone decides.
1. Are you available at any of these times: a) 10/26 Friday evening; b) 10/27 Saturday afternoon; c) 10/27 Saturday evening; d) 10/28 Sunday afternoon; e) 10/28 Sunday evening. Out of the times that you could attend, which would you prefer?
2. Where would you like to have the party? Suggestions?
I can only think of The Ale House and Casa de lopa--or whatever its real name is--at the moment. Any other place is fine with me though.
3. If the kick-off party happens to be in Pullman, do you need transportation?
4. Unrelated, but I figure I'll ask this anyway: For write-ins during November, what day of the week would you prefer?
I would rather it be Saturday or Sunday.
5. Any other questions/suggestions/comments?

Here are my responses to the questions:
I'm available 10/26 Fri. evening, & Sat 10/27 after 12:30pm
2. Where would you like to have the party? Suggestions?

What about Sister's Brew Cafe on 3rd & Main? They also have a room we can reserve for free in back. It's nice with a table and chairs. It seats at least 8 easliy.
3. If the kick-off party happens to be in Pullman, do you need transportation?
Yes!!!
4. Unrelated, but I figure I'll ask this anyway: For write-ins during November, what day of the week would you prefer?
I would rather it be Saturday or Sunday.
I like Saturday, but Tuesdays also work.
5. Any other questions/suggestions/comments?

1. I am available at any of these times: a) Friday evening; b) Saturday afternoon; e) Sunday evening. I really don't care which one, but if I must choose I'd probably say Sunday evening.
2. I would like to have the party at Bucer's Coffeehouse Pub. It has good coffee, hot chocolate, eats, books, tobacco, beer, wine, and live music on some weekends. In the afternoons it's a nice place to study or write, but I've seen it host some great parties. Bucer's is at 201 South Main Street.
3. If the kick-off party happens to be in Pullman, I do not need transportation. In fact I would offer to provide transportation for Moscovites.
4. For write-ins during November, I would prefer Saturday.
5. Another question: How many people plan to be there?

1. I should be available Friday evening, Saturday afternoon, Sunday afternoon, and maybe Sunday evening. This may change as I've got three parties that weekend. Whee.
2. I like the idea of going to Sister's Brew, but nearly anywhere else is fine with me. The one place I'd rather not go to is La Casa Lopez (I think that's the name anyway).
3. Yes I would need transportation to get to Pullman. Yay for not knowing how to drive!
4. I would prefer Saturday or Sunday, but I can do Monday or Friday as well.
5. None that I can think of now. I'll edit this if I think of any.

I prefer daytime.
2. Where would you like to have the party? Suggestions?
Someplace with its own parking lot would be nice. Anything on Main St is a parking hassle.
3. If the kick-off party happens to be in Pullman, do you need transportation?
nope.
4. Unrelated, but I figure I'll ask this anyway: For write-ins during November, what day of the week would you prefer?
Generally weekdays, but it's not a strong preference.
5. Any other questions/suggestions/comments?
Not this late in the evening, I'll post again if I think of any.

Hi everyone,
So going by the replies so far, I'm tentatively scheduling the following--
Kick-off party: 10/27 Saturday, 1 pm at Sister's Brew
Write-ins: every Saturday during November, around 1 pm. Location: suggestions?
Unless anyone has any objections/suggestions for something else, I'll be sending out another reminder sometime this Thursday.

Saturday afternoon works for me. As far as write-ins are concerned, Saturday afternoons are best for me. Sundays are too hectic just trying to prepare for the work week.

I can't make the initial kick-off party, as I will be out of town, but I will be there for the write-ins. Yipee! This will be fun.

I would prefer weekends I think.

Hello again,
Since I haven't heard any objections, our kick-off meeting will definitely be on 10/27 Saturday, 1 pm at Sister's Brew. I will be there with my Nanowrimo tote bag, and hopefully, I will be hard to miss. I'll send out another reminder on Friday, probably via e-mail in case anyone has not checked the forums so far.
If any of you can't attend the afternoon kick-off, there's another kick-off party in Pullman on Saturday evening. (You might want to check the details in these threads: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/1018388 and http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/1022317 )
I'll see all of you on Saturday!

Can I get a head count of those who will be at the kick-off? I would like to bring some goodies to our kick-off. Folks can email me at jrattey@uidaho.edu and let me know if you have specific food allergies. Something to keep in mind is that while we are meeting at places that serve food, you are NOT expected to purchase anything. If folks were interested and willing, we could donate to a coffee or tea pool, so we could purchase a carafe of coffee or tea. Also, on a side note, tomorrow is the last day of Farmer's Market, so if you can, come early and enjoy the last of Autumn's bounty (weather cooperating!).

I already replied earlier, but since you asked for a head count, I figured I would once again confirm that I am coming. I would do this via email, but my email currently hates me. :( See you there!

Deleted for being silly and a week off.
