This is the place where all the FUN is...the mini-rules on this are listed below!

---------------------
Trash-talkin’
• Each team will have a clearly labeled “trash talk” thread. The Lushguins trash talk thread will be in the Austin Lounge. Trash talk is to be posted ONLY to the trash talk thread and should remain in good fun and within the bounds of good sportspersonship.

Our God-like powers
• MLs decide what “good sportspersonship” means.
• We reserve the right to remove folks from the competition for any violation of the rules and guidelines listed above.
• MLs are the final authority in any dispute or question about the rules.

Remember It’s All in Fun
• In the heat of competition, we sometimes forget it’s just a game. If you have a concern or question about anything regarding the competition, please contact your challenge coordinator before you post.

2007 is going to be so awesome!

Allow me to be the first to begin...

I know Maryland is going to come out tops this year, and I am personally challenging our flickguy, I'm hoping to top his word count.

Smiles to all...

Oh, this should be fun!

Know why?

I've actually upped my personal "win" point. This year I can't write a mere 50,000 words and proclaim myself a "winner" -- I have to write 75,000.

So keep that in mind as you "top" my count. *winky emoticon*

Hmm... I should put up the trash talk thread in Austin, shouldn't I?

Oh, uh... and Maryland rocks. But they're still gonna lose.

Go Maryland Go!

We have the Thin Mints!

I might be nice and share a few if someone gives me a penguin martini.

Flickguy,

You have to cringe in the face of KatieFleck's THIN MINTS for they are a secret weapon!

And what? Did you read my goal of 75,000 for this year? Geez, we're gonna have to up that ante. I see you and raise you 80,000, but don't push it!

LOL

Only 75K, flick? I am embarassed. I am despondent. I am...wait a minute, what am I saying?

This is, after all, the Year of Doing Great Things. Soluna's already in my sights. Now I'll add all of the Lushguins. Goal this year: 225,000 words.

And we have the mighty TJ, the ever-dependable Analise, the sizzling KatieFleck, and that's just the beginning...

Think you can take us on? Bring it!

Aw, Caeraerie, you know that you and TJ are our secret weapons...but sadly, I haven't heard from TJ at all.

But I can tell you that our Jana will be scopin' out the high numbers.

She just hasn't posted yet, she's still riding the wave of the 10,000 day story.

We need the rest of our Challengers to come and sign UP!

Carol - I saw TJ post in the Towson thread, so he's back (maybe late to the forum) - I say if you don't hear from him, then NaNoMail him!

I think Caeraerie ought to get credit for his family members' wordcounts too... And ALL MLs ought to get credit for forum posts and regional email.

I'm shooting for around 60K actually, as I'm targeting this book for publication and that is how it works out.

I have dark chocolate to fuel our novels - Maryland will both RULE and TASTE GOOD TOO *smiley face*

Hugs,
Lee (very very tired ML who was out LATE)

Mayhap I didn't make myself completely clear.

75k is merely my "win" point (instead of 50k). As in, no certificate until I hit that mark.

This does not mean that I won't go for 300k if my fingers can take it.

(Though I'll say now that I'm pretty sure they can't.)

Even so, my Lushguins are primed and ready to go. And so is Our Hero of the Jabberwocky Saga. Moo ha ha, etc.

No, you did make yourself clear. I'm just calling your 75k and raising it by the same. ^^

After having done two novels per NaNo for the last two years, I'm going for three (150k) this year before I allow myself the reward. :p (And that's not *just* 150k total - that's at least 50k per novel for three distinct novels.)

I sneer at your Hero, for I have located the Vorpal Blade of Great Wordliness. (Yeah, it was stuck in my basement, along with six bags of winter clothing. Who'd've guessed?)

And having said dread blade, I will personally issue you this challenge. 300K you say? It can be done.

Mayhap, in this Year of Doing Great Things, we will see such an accomplishment!

It be time for some talkin'!

I announce herewith that I have managed to swipe the entire contents of the Lushguin Penguin treats horde (chocolate, booze and some funny-looking crystal thingies that I think will make really cool plot bunnies) and have posted a challenge to said drunk Wrimos to look sharp or Foster will be in a fairly sad state this year.

For those who are interested, the spoils (and the freshes) are over in the locker marked with a blue crab crushing the penguin in the martini glass. But the Lushguins have gotta earn their right to that locker. And that means some trash talkin'!

And yes, they did have white chocolate in the horde. Very sad. Really, they need to have some standards, or find a better supply store.

We of Maryland, mighty Blue Crabs we, are the number one writers in NaNoLand (for proof, I invite your attention to Exhibit A, 2005 NaNo Word Count Results). And thus, we are far greater than silly penguins that are going to get themselves arrested for NUI (noveling under the influence). Thus speaks the wielder of the Vorpal Sword of Great Wordliness. Thus shall it be.

Or was that supposed to be some sort of frightening penguin battle cry?

Hey look! I'm dependable!

I've also got plans to write two novels in one this year. (Two ideas! So for great crack, my character will read one novel inside of the main novel! Woo!)

I also have dark chocolate m&ms (peanut AND regular) as well as thin mints.

I'm. so. ready.

Watch out, Lushguins, I think tomorrow's going to be a 10K day.

Funny you should mention a 10 k day. I was planing to have 10k written tomorrow as well, Hoping to break the 30k by Sunday. That's with work, working out, and spending time with my SO, who is THANKFULLY doing NaNo with me.

I actually want to write 2 books this month. One YA one I was thinking about and the main one. Main one first, then YA. Let's just see how this goes.

I am not only ready, but chomping at the bit. Let me go let me gooooo!

Let the crab bake begin!

1735 words tonight.

It's a small gauntlet for you scuttlers, but a gauntlet none the less.

One might suppose y'all are too busy writing to update y'all's word counts, but I'm not that generous. :)

I am cruising along at a decent clip, the ideas flowing like a mighty river. Tonights goal of 10k should not pose a threat to me, as I am more than halfway there at 2:30 pm, with working mixed in. Luckily I have been able to sneak 10 minutes here, 10 minutes there in today, and hope to continue that for the next 2 hours, then I am off, a 2 minute drive home, a 30 minute workout, and then the book. Oh yes, the book, how I am loving thee so far.

Anyway, Good luck you crabcakes!

Oh, it's already been brought on!

My story wasted no time making short work of the very little prep I did for this year, 2 of my 6 characters are out of the story, though not dead, so who knows...

Anyway. I think I am done for the night, but I may not be. The muse will tell me when I can sleep and when I must type.

Poor Crabs!

After meeting Soluna at Kick-off, I feel so sorry for you. That lady was nothing but a ball of energy itching to type!

So, I'm not much of a trash talker--preferring to save my words for my novel--and since crabs are the only shellfish I actually like, I will spare you. I will leave you with a little ditty to brighten your day:

There once was a Lushguin named Vicki,
Who was hesitant to write anything icky,
But her characters habits,
Of mating like rabbits,
Multiplied her word count, by cricky!

Write on!

Well, I made my 10,000 words plus a little. :)

And my main character and her love interest, while they haven't gotten to anything 'icky' yet are likely to by the end of the novel at least once or twice. :)

Can't wait to see what today brings!

I went through my pre-set sketch of my novel yesterday; today is totally out on the wind.

But it tastes like...penguin? Fricasseed, I believe? With sliced lime. Mmmm.

And while Soluna may be a ball of energy, I've got a challenge of my own. Yesterday, despite migraine issues and sleep deprivation, I logged almost 10K. Today, I feel good. This means war. Word war.

And it may mean that 300K is not so undoable after all.

Oh and a thumbs up to newcomer Crab SunnyDawn, who is writing her novel in the older way. Fountain pen. On paper.

And has logged 3 days worth of writing already!
