Okay guys, this Thursday (Nov 1) is the kick-off meeting and we'd love all 92 of you (not counting your MLs) who're signed up for this region to swarm up to the Central Library's 2nd floor and freak out security by amassing at the giant pencil for some excellent kick-off fun.

However, I suspect not everyone can make it so here's the post where you can let the rest of us know: a) if you ARE coming for sure, b) if you're NOT coming for sure, or c) if you THINK you can/cannot make it. Lora and I will definitely be there: how about you?

(If you missed the email with location/time/transit details, see below.)

- Carrie

DATE: Thursday, November 1
TIME: 6:00pm
LOCATION: 251 Dundas Street: Central Library, Downtown; 2nd floor, tables across from the escalator. Look for the giant pencil!

DETAILS: This will be our NaNo Kick-Off meeting but the format will be pretty much the same as the October meetings: an informal get-together where you can meet your fellow London NaNo-ers and chit-chat/share ideas. And since the writing will have officially begun, you can work on your novel too, if you'd like. Do bring along some paper and writing implements for any activities ... and any leftover Halloween candy is welcome too ;) If the official swag gets here in time, we may have some fun stickers and things to give out to get you motivated, but either way we still have a number of posters that you can take and distribute at your leisure to spread the news of NaNo. If you know that you're coming (or not) and want to let us know, please log into the forums and leave a note on the Kick-Off post. Thanks, and hope to see you on Thursday!

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: For those who take the bus, the Central Library is located within two blocks of Dundas and Richmond, and within one block of Dundas and Wellington, making it within two blocks of every bus that hits downtown. Those who drive, parking is available through the Clarence, Wellington, King, or York street entrances of the Galleria Mall. Bring your ticket to the 2nd floor circulation desk and have it validated for two hours' free parking!

I'll be there! I may be dragging a new recruit with me, but no word for sure on that yet.

See you there!

Greetings to my fellow WriMo's. I won't be able to make it to any of the meetings in November, but I will try really hard to make it down for the wrap up in December. Enjoy your candy.

Definitely will not be there.

I'll be there! And I'll be bringing some edible goodies! (But not Hallowe'en candy.)

I would love to come, but we'll see what happens. I'm a Halloween fiend, so an outing after work is essential. I'm also quite sure that I'll pull the classic "start writing at midnight, write until you collapse" maneuver that has become tradition among North Bay NaNoers. But I shall certainly make every effort. It would be really nice to meet actual people in London, lol.

I think I may be able to finally come to a meeting - I've been extra busy in October, so hopefully my schedule will clear up a bit when November rolls around. If I'm not working, I'm there.

I can't wait to meet this fabled giant pencil.

Sorry I won't be able to make it but I am hoping to make at least one of the Saturday get-togethers. Is there anyone north of London that might want to get together to write sometime throughout the month.

I just have to decide if my fear of human contact outweighs my love for leftover Halloween candy or not.

So put me down for "probably not coming, but actively considering coming to at least one meeting sometime during the month." And at least now you know that one more of the 92 people signed up in London do check the forums.

Best of luck to everyone.

Haven't been to any of the pre-season meetings, but I'll be out for the kickoff for sure! Going to need some locals to keep me accountable....

I will try really hard to make it and not sleep all day/night and end up missing it and swearing.

Not that you all needed to know of my odd sleeping habits of course. But it IS the day after Halloween. Blasphemy.

What if the Central LIbrary's unexpectedly closed, because of Wednesday's power outage and sink hole? Do we need a plan B? For example, we could call the library, and if it's not going to be open, we could go to . . . where? The Masonville branch?

Man - I just found out I'm working 5-9 Thursday so I can't make it!!!! So I'm just going to say "hi!" to everyone here, and that I hope the kick-off meeting is excellent. Hopefully next meeting I won't be working - are we keeping the November meetings all on Thursdays? I'm all for weekends. I know downtown is a handy location for everyone (its the center of the city) but I've been hearing that Masonville area might be best for some? Anyone from this area want to give me a shout, it'd be awesome if we could plan something unofficial or whatnot - or some sort of write-in (although the lack of laptop really bums me out). Anyways, I wish I could make it to kick-off - I'm so excited for tonight - definitely going to start at midnight and write until I collapse!

Anyway - Ciao!

Ah yes... the great sink hole. Could someone please post if there's a change in location?

From what I heard on the news, power is expected to be restored by morning. But hey - you never know.

I won't make it. Thursday at 6 is a pretty awkward time and place. Off the record, I MIGHT be able to swing a good spot with a kitchen, washrooms, power and a coffee pot for a write in at some point. I'll ask the authorities in question.

In short, it's a quiet church basement at Oxford and Quebec Street. Late nights are open at pretty much any time. Well, the availablility is fairly open generally. Parking is um, not wonderful, but there is some. Bus access along Oxford is pretty good. Cost will be negligible. This church allows building use on a donation basis and has no set fee for anything.

So, if there's interest, feel free to let me know and I'll work up whatever I can. We would have the place pretty much to ourselves.

So, formally or informally, somebody let me know if they want me to work up the space.

Is there gonna be a change in location due to the sink hole? The power may be back on in the core tomorrow evening but I do have my doubts.

Can't make the kick-off. Sorry.

I'm all for the Masonville Chapters/Public Library Meetings. Weekends would be best. Anyone else want to weigh in on this one?

I'd say I'd call the library in the morning to check, as I'm up early for work anyway, but I'll be at work all day without computer access until I get home just after 4pm. So even if I know, I wouldn't be able to post and let anyone else know. Sorry!

On that note: if the library is still closed tomorrow evening, I'd be up for relocating at the Masonville branch. It's actually a bit closer for me, but I know it's not as accessible as the Central library is to those who take the bus.

In either case, I want to go to a kick-off party of some sort, whether it be at the Central library, or the Masonville branch. I have a bunch of candy leftover from the weekend that I'm looking to share with my fellow writers, and I don't want it to go to waste! Or, um, for me to eat it all. Because I already ate a good chunk of it. XD

Arrrrrrrrgh!

Okay. I ... have no idea. I just got home from teaching and find out about all this nonsense, gyahhh.

Watch this space, people. We'll call the library first thing tomorrow. I'll send out an e-mail as soon as I figure out what's happening.

Worst case scenario: I'm moving into a new apartment tomorrow on Richmond St.. There will be little furniture but lots of space. (Like last year's TGIO!) Hopefully it doesn't come down to that. Masonville library should be fine, but I'll make calls.

I will send out a mass e-mail tomorrow.

I am so, so tired right now, guys. Half an hour till go time, wooo ... @___@

I'm e-mailing this in a minute, but thought I would post here just in case --

The library meeting is still a go. Power has been restored and the library will be open during regular hours, so the meeting is still at the Central Library, 6pm.

For those who found that Thursdays can't work, we'll work on that this weekend. My weekend is entirely booked (I work 5pm Friday night until 9:30pm Sunday night with one five-hour break and one three-hour break, and that's it) and has been for about a month, so I can't do anything else. But we'll see about other weekend meetings for sure.

For now, those of you who can make it, great! Those who can't, I'm sorry, and we'll work on it. Okay? Okay. :)

Sorry fellow WriMoes... I just got called into a meeting and I could be a while.

Weekends would be better for me if possible - let's plan something soon, because I would love to meet you!

I would love to do a write in at some point this month, I have a feeling that might be just what I need about mid-November for a good motivational kick in the rump! I don't technically own a laptop, but I could probably steal my dad's or a friend's if enough people are interested for a write in. I could probably also swing some good strong coffee for that coffee pot (the benefits of working at a Starbucks), and a bunch of fun snacks (I love to bake). : )
Anyone else interested?
