Hey there,
I am sad I will not get much of a chance to meet those of you who will be writing earlier in the day, but perhaps we may meet on a weekend?
In any case, it took me until now to realize that we have yet to have a meeting spot for those living in the Castro/mission area that begins sometime after 5pm (If I'm wrong please correct me, I'm going by the official schedule posted on the 28th). In any case, I would recommend The Church Street Cafe on Church beween 14th and 15th. They are open till 11pm weeknights (including Sunday) and till midnight on Fridays and Saturday. Plenty of chairs, places to plug in your lap top, and the service is friendly. I go there all the time to write poetry - the pac man players can be a bit cumbersome at times though.
Anyway, who would like to meet up with me there, or anywhere else in the Mission/Castro/Haight area after 5pm...more like 7ish I think? There are a lot of other great places too. My friend and I were making a list. We could check out Muddy Waters on 24th and Valencia, Mission Creek, and maybe the Marsh depending on whether there is a performance or not (there is a theater above the cafe).
Btw, I don't know if this is strange...but I have no doubt in my mind that I will finish a novel in 30 days. Am I being too bold or something? Cuz from what I understand most people have doubts about this.

I usually put something on the calendar if three people say they're going, or if one person says they'll officially host each week. Muddy Waters at 16th and Church worked well last year, but I haven't seen a lot of interest in it this year.
And it's not too bold to know you're going to make it. I wouldn't start spending the publisher's advance at least until you finish the second revision, but you can and will finish. And we're all here to help push you along.

Haha, I should have said something sooner so I could get a bunch of people to show interest in Muddy Waters (it has actually been renamed 'church street cafe' and has different owners). Neway, so roll call - who wants to meet up anytime during the weekdays at 7 or so at Muddy Waters? Any takers?

I think 7 pm at the cafe on Church street is great (isn't it another Muddy's?), especially for the weekends. I would suggest the Revolution Cafe on Valencia, except for the famine of empty seats.
This is my first NaNoWriMo, and I look foward to meeting to all of you.

Church Street area works for me--I'm in that part of town. I'm really busy the first part of November (poor planning and all that), so I won't make many write-ins till the latter part of the month, but Muddy Waters/Church St. Cafe sounds great!

I live right around the corner from Church Street Cafe, and I'm a 9-5er as well, so I'd love to participate in some evening write-ins.

I'm also a 9-5er in that area. So I'd also be in attendance.

It's about a mile from my new job, so I'll try to make it down there later in the month as well.
Do you guys have a day of the week you'd like put on the calendar?

I could do Wednesdays--the 21st and 28th definitely, and maybe the 14th (I'll have to see about that though).

Hi - I'm a first-timer in NaNoWriMo too, and work 9-7. I'm in Noe, so the Church Street area is good for me. I'm looking forward to a write in (and generally getting starting - I haven't written a word yet today!). Meghan

Wednesdays or Thursdays are fine with me. Is there an address? I don't know the area well and will need to use the trip planner so I can find the bus to get there. As such, I don't have a preference as to where we meet.

elena.corinne,
Let me know if there are any other takers for a write-in at Revolution; that's a great place, although as you note there's a dearth of seating.
Cheers,

I am at the Revolution Cafe right now as I type this message. I'm sitting on the inside, wearing a gray shirt with a "Hello My Name Is" tag with a bunch of black swirls. I am also bald; I have a laptop. If anyone is here or coming here, seek me out.

I was wondering if you were a nanowrimo. I'm in the corner by the window. I just see the side of your t shirt, but anyway hello!

So what's the result with this? I am looking for a place to go tonight (Thursday) in the city. Will folks be meeting there to write?

Anyone interested in a return to Church St. Cafe this week and/or next week? The forums seem very diffuse.. I am wagering that a lot of people are spending less time on the website as they get more nervous about their word counts..... so if anyone wants to nanomail me about Church St., I will pass it on to everyone who nanomails me, and put it on the wiki. For lack of a better medium that everyone will see in time...

I'll be at Church St. Cafe tomorrow (Wednesday the 21st) from as close to 7 as I can get there, till maybe 9 or so...I'll be coming from an appointment downtown so not sure of traffic/parking/schedule/etc. But my laptop has NaNo stickers on it, I'll have freshly-salon-ed brown hair, and I'll be looking for other writers. Hope to see you there!

Let's take this write-in and combine it with the Lo Cubano one for Wednesday the 28th, okay? I'll get there closer to 5, though, and have to leave around 7, so I hope to see you all at some point!

Hey there, Shannon.
I don't think I understand your post. Which write-in do you mean? And combine it for which day and where? Maybe I haven't had enough caffeine?

Heh, sorry. I noticed that two write-ins were planned for tomorrow: 7 at Lo Cubano, and one I'd hoped to make for a bit earlier at the Church Street Cafe. So let's forget Church Street and meet at Lo Cubano. I have to get there early and leave early, but you-all can show up as you please, and I hope I can stick around long enough to see you!
I'll plan to be at Lo Cubano from 5-ish till 7 or so.
Caffeine is a good thing.
