Hey Vandy Writers!

(please excuse any and all incoherence in the following post; it is 2:30am and I have just written my first 800 words, nearly all of them in the same run-on sentence)

The kickoff tonight was so much fun, and so helpful for boosting creativity and morale, that Maiyun and I have decided to host a weekly Write Night! The idea is, anyone who wants some company and inspiration, come to Stonehenge in Sarratt at 10pm on Wednesday nights. At least Maiyun or I will be there every week, probably both of us. You can bring your novel or even your homework to work on - the idea is just for all of us to get to know each other better, and to help out when someone needs a name for their character (Ethelbert! Cuddlewinks!) or a cooler way to describe baggy pants (loose fitting cargo pants! it has more words!).

You should come - you'd be surprised how much having other Nanoers around can help!

Hmm-- are any of you into daytime NaNo write-ins? I live off campus, and don't have a car yet... and walking down the west end at night is something I'd like to be spared of.

Of course, once it gets closer to the deadline and Im still 15,000 words shy, I'm more than happy to spend all night in that damn lounge. They'll have to use the prying board to get me out of there in the morning to clean.

Hey guys!

On talking about it after a little sleep, and from talking to fly a little, we've decided to move it to the Starbucks on 21st Ave, so that Nashvillians can come too without having to worry about card access. It's still Wed, 10 pm, because for us college kids that's probably the only time that would be convenient for everyone.

Day write-ins are definitely a good idea, though! We didn't want to make our weekly Write Night during the day (because, for one, that wouldn't rhyme) since college day schedules tend to be really hectic and unpredictable.

Anyone who wants to host a mini-write-in on campus during the day, please do so! Just post here, giving ample notice of where you'll be and when and how to find you, and hopefully most of us will be able to gather and write for a while! We'll also probably do a Saturday Borders write-in at some point during the month, more on that to come.

Happy November, everyone!

Sounds good to me! I am sorry I missed the write night. I actually showed up, but had not realized that it was on the second floor, so Christine and I headed to her boyfriend's suite and wrote our first 1400 and 800 words [respectively] there.

See you guys this Wednesday!
Ben

UPDATE - Weekly Write Night is back to Stonehenge in Sarratt, on campus. (Starbucks was too loud!) See the post on the events calendar for details.
