2012 words so far. It sounds like a lot but I just got the character out of the house after morning preparation--looking in the mirror, taking a shower, getting dressed and suddenly remembering she doesn't have to go to work today but she does have to go feed the cats for her co-worker whom she promised she would house sit for. Another character is about to appear which means dialogue, which means definite slowing down as these characters improvise themselves into creation.
I don't go in to work til 12:30 today so I'm seizing the opportunity while I can. Not too bad for a start, eh?

I've got about 2,350 words. It's coming pretty quickly because I've spent a long time world building before hand, and the biggest part of it is a discussion between two characters while they prepare to leave. One is a highly educated woman who has been groomed for political service, and the other is a teenage girl who has just escaped an extremely sheltered life. The woman identified with the teenager and decided to take the girl under her wing, so basically it's an info dump that feels more like character development than an info dump.
Plus, I've managed to severely mess up one foot, so I've been largely relegated to the couch, chair, or bed with nothing to do but write for the next week or so. I'm taking advantage before I have to spend entire days catching back up on mundane chores. ^_^

I feel like a pariah. I just signed up this morning...a buddy and I tried this a couple of years ago and I made it into the first week and then got lost in kids and holiday stuff. My buddy finished...he's funny that way. But he says...just write. So that's what I'm doing...I laid out the basic scenario of who and what and why I am, and from now on...I'm just talking. Starting with why I got thrown out of Whole Foods in Bham for taking pictures yesterday. (Not really, but I DID get in trouble. And like...WHAT ARE THEY GOING TO DO?)

I am doing good. I finished the first day with 2,229 words which is good for me since I am a very slow writer and typest. I plan to get ahead on my writing in the first week so when the second week blues start I have some extra words under my belt.
>I did not realize that we were going to have a midnight November 1 write-in. And when I find out I had already started my adventure in the traditional writer's journey of alcoholism (thank you for the handy shot glass MLs :-) ). I was good this evening: drinking only coffee. Besides being over the legal limit, I did not want to drive in and out of town in the middle of the night.
>Did any one go to the midnight witching hour write-in? How was it?
> But I did start writing at somewhat after 12:01 am (12:20 or 12:30 am). My fingers and noveling mind could hardly wait.
Happy, day two all. :-)

We didn't go to the write-in...Hubby and I actually live in Fayetteville, TN, which is about a 40 minute drive from Huntsville. Not really a big deal, except that we didn't want to be out for that long of a drive on Halloween night if we weren't certain that other people would actually be there.
I got about 2700 words yesterday...this morning I'm at 6,278 and am taking a break for a few minutes, lol. I'm trying to get as far ahead as possible, because I know Thanksgiving is going to be really tough to work around. My goal is to do at least 2500 words a day, so that I can afford to take a few days off when the holiday hits.
