I know I'm not the first one to get here, but I figure this may be my one and only chance near the head of the pack (the next week may go a lot slower - but then, one never knows).
Who's hit 5K words?

I'm over 5k. The session at Alternative Grounds on Friday put me there. So these writing sessions actually help! It's hard to do a decent Word War on your own.

I hit 5,000 yesterday.
One of my best friends is a marathoner. I have been there emotionally with her through a half and two fulls. If nothing else, she taught me about pacing and keep track of performance. 42 km is a long distance to keep running.
So I have - perhaps erroneously - figured out the 1,667 word/day pace and am trying to keep to it. We shall see how long it lasts. I have a requirement to visit people mid-november and this is freaking me out.
I also have an excel-based garmond-like ability to track at any given moment, the number of words done, words remaining (both daily and total) and various %s. It has become sort of stupid the amount of stats I have.
I think I am doing as much stats as words.
Is this what they call procrastination??

I hit 5 000 on Friday, and then couldn't make the 1 667 quota yesterday (in part because I was at a party from 8-12:30 and that's my best writing time but also in part because I struggled for six hours to get 700 words out).
So, we'll see how it goes later when I'm duelling with assignments and everything else while still trying to get a decent number of words written everyday. I don't know that I have enough devotion to this storyline to actually make it through. ._.

hey there Maggie in TO here
----------as of this morning I'm at 11,479, more than 20% done whew!
of course I have a lot of events coming up in my life this month
and probably won't be able to keep up this pace,
but at least it gives me a head start
I'm sure I'll start having problems when I'm about 60% of the way through
of course, I have the bad habit of going through what I've already written first
instead of just plunging on where I left off
but I'm sure I'll be able to kick the habit eventually

I must go and write my 1.6k for today. :P

It's so nice to be on the pace because last year I was horribly behind target for the better part of the month :) I wrote 2700 yesterday to catch up for slacking off on Friday and ended the day 17 lovely words above 5K.

I am at 5400 and working toward my daily quota. After a few years of Nano, I have to say the trick is in getting the daily quota. I have actually done 5000 words in one day, but it is burnout the next day. I promised myself that this year I would sail past the 50K mark, because though I love being mom, I hate all the housework!

I hit 5K very late on Friday evening; trying desperately to maintain 1667 words per day and as such have just finished writing at least 1200 words of crap. But I don't care because my internal editor has been fired for the next 25 days. I will achieve 50k this year.
I have to go to bed now - this working-for-a-living thing is cramping my midnight writing style - oh but I do so like the pay cheque.
G'night all,

Ah...you'll be fine!
You know, I have no idea how to pronounce your name. I think we were going through introductions at the Timothy's, and you didn't say your name. :) Unless I'm mistaking you for someone else...I forget everyone...

I think I said my name.... I was the one that said you don't look like your picture and you said that you would if you grinned, and then you grinned and I said, now I recognize u.
Or something close to that.
That version of my name is pronounced You-ee. My official real name is pronounced 'you weigh', but I think my friends abbrieviated it to Yuy some 5 or 6 years ago..... and I've just been using it everywhere now (except on the papers I hand in at the University).
Sorry if the quote tags looks funny, I improvised....

Nope, you didn't say your name, because as soon as I said mine, the introductions were stopped cold as we discussed how I didn't look like my picture. *laugh*
I'll stick with You-ee then. Although you-way seems easier to pronounce. :)

There is silence for a moment before the orchestra starts to tune itself...
The lights dim, the orchestra returns to silence, and a dense fog pours out from under closed double doors, causing the multi-coloured light streaming through that small gap to break into beams...
The doors are thrown open! Blinding multi-coloured light shines out in every direction! The fog dissipates as Leo979 runs headlong up steps attached to a 50' scaffold!
He throws his arms in the air in Hiro-Nakamura-esque fashion and cries out to the world(or at least those that read this thread)...

Why am I this dramatic when some of you wrote more than that before the first day was over? 'cause it's three times as much as I wrote last year. Huzzah!
I continue to cheer for those of you within striking distance of the big five-zero-zero-zero-zero. HUZZAH!!!
