Since as of yet most of you are just names and Nano stats to me, I thought it would be nice to know a little bit about everyone here, I've written up a brief questionaire, so anyone who wants to fill it out can share a little bit about themselves. If course it's fine to leave some questions blank if you don't feel comfortable sharing personal information! Also, sorry if this is too lame for anyone.

Anneka is lame and has no pictures of herself on her computer. Instead, she shall include this rough sketch.

~Your name:
Anne! >:3 Anneka online, since "Anne" was deemed boring by dearest Satouberri.

~Your favorite color:
GREEN! >:3 Purple and black kick butt, too.

~Tell us something interesting about you?:
I'm 16. I'm an otaku (anime/manga freak). ...I'm a lefty~ >3>

~Your favorite book/author:
...@-@ can't decide...

~Your preferred genre:
I love angst and romance when it comes to fanfiction, but in original fiction I love fantasy and sci-fi, with a liberal dosage of humor in there.

~Writing experience:
fanfiction.net/~annekaneko

^I write fanfiction. ^^;;; Erm... oh, I'm in Creative Writing right now with Stuart Albright! He just won an award for his teaching, so I think he's mildly famous around here right now. ^^;;;; Hm... I was in the Literary Club in 7th and 8th grade, and I'm in the Box Club ("thinking outside the box" - creative writing with a cheesy name >>;;; ) right now.

~Tell us a little about your novel this year:
I'm doing a ridiculously long fanfiction of Kingdom Hearts (video game series), because my original character muse seems to be MIA at the moment. Just in case any of you know much about KH, my basic premise is: Axel gets a crush on Zexion. Zexion gets a crush on Demyx. A cat is loose in the Castle That Never Was. Yep. Sounds fun, ne?

^^;;;; yeah. Thazz me. .____.;;;

So that I'm not telling people to do something I haven't done yet, here's mine:

A picture of yourself if you want to share one: Ok, this is a bit silly because most of us already have pictures in our profiles, but bear with me, we did this last year and it was neat to see everyone on one page.

Your name: Sarah, but my friends mostly call me Lou.
Your favorite color: Green
Tell us something interesting about you?: I like to make puppets.
Your favorite book/author:House of Leaves has recently impressed me quite a bit, though I still consider Nabokov my favorite author.
Your preferred genre: Ok, I suppose it's odd that I put this question on here because I don't really have one.
Writing experience: Nothing official really, just sporadic phases of writing throughout high school. I mostly write plots which I intend to make into comics, so it's a bit difficult to transition to real writing.
Tell us a little about your novel this year: It's a steampunk fantasy; complete with eccentric inventors, big goggles and dirigibles, that's about as much as I know so far.

About my novel this year: A murder mystery--you'll have to ask if you want to see more :)

My pictures are not on this unit but on my friend Laura's I will email her to send them to me so I can post one here.

Favorite color: Tudor (Hunter) green
Favorite author: of all time would have to be Tenneyson (sp?) after that Tom Clancey, Drury, Elliot, Shaw, Uris and Forest along with Tan.
Writing background: wrote for my local library publication from the age of 11-13 doing book and movie reviews; wrote a short story in 6th grade that got published in the local library novellas, never got below an A on any paper and actually blew my college freshman English Lit professor out of the water with my paper on Arthur Miller's The Crucible. Was blessed to have taken Ben Johnson's Shakespear courses at SJU in NY...standing room only folks. Performed in theater from my senior year in HS up and after college graduation. My greatest roll Lady M in my senior yr of HS at the Globe Theater at Hofstra University. Awesome.
The book: writing something contempory with a funny bone.
My goal in life is to make it back on stage as a stand up comic...or a jalepeno on a stick!!!

According to the 'Breaking News' section on the nanowrimo home page, it seems like the site had crashed and the word count is down at the moment. As far as I know they have not yet ever gotten the Cut and Paste word counter working, but you should be able to manually type in a word count.

I'm sorry, but I don't have one online at the moment. :(

Your name:
My real name is Doug.

Your favorite color:
I would say that my favorite color is dark blue, almost black. Or maybe some sort of very deep purple color.

Tell us something interesting about you?:
Unfortunately, I can't think of anything interesting at the moment. Everything about myself seem so ordinary, day-to-day, and boring. Maybe because I have to be around myself all the time, so I get bored of myself!

Your favorite book/author:
At the risk of sounding lame, I'm going to pick "Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy" as my favorite book. I've read many books that were more serious, deep, and well written, but I read that book when I was younger, after seeing the TV series version of it... so it's what I'll chose. :D As for favorite author, at the moment I've been reading a lot of Agatha Christie books, but I think I'll have to go with Robert E Howard as my favorite author.

Your preferred genre:
I used to prefer reading Fantasy stories, but lately I've been reading drawing room style Mysteries, such as the books by Agatha Christie.

Writing experience:
I never did much writing, but I've taken a few Creative Writing classes along the way. I have some stories and 'poems' online on my library page at Elfwood: Here Don't expect quality literature. :D

Tell us a little about your novel this year:
I recently decided to start over. In fact I plan to do so as soon as I finish this post. ;) All I know about the story so far is that it's called "Death on Dragon Island". Here's the banner for it:

I'm a Catholic school girl.

Your favorite book/author:
My favorite book has to be The Moon is a Harsh Mistress by Robert Heinlein. Heinlein is one of the best sci-fi authors, ever. I also love Pride and Prejudice and Little Women.

Your preferred genre:
Sci-fi, when I can find a decent novel to read, otherwise historical fiction.

Writing experience:
A fiction writing class as a college elective. Otherwise, not much.

Tell us a little about your novel this year:
It's an attempt at writing a sci-fi novel that's not utter trash. Let's just say exploding ducks and Frankenstein make an exciting premise.

Here's my picture (with my brother). (I don't know if you have to click the link or if the picture actually shows up.) My name is right there since I didn't think quickly enough to invent a fake one. My favorite color must be the most common one on the forum: green, though I like all colors as long as they are actual colors rather than wishy-washy, smudge-like wannabes. I can't think of anything interesting about myself; I already heard all about it: I was born and raised inside the Raleigh belt-line, a professor's daughter, and lived in Peru for ten years. My very favorite book is La Casa Verde by Mario Vargas LLosa, however I also love a broad spectrum of other authors and styles, from Chekhov to Maguire, Capote, Eliot, Gibran, Sedaris, and the nameless yellow journalists from Weekly World News. I don't even have a favorite genre, but I probably enjoy Southern Literature and South American Literature enough to read, reread and rereread more than other literature. My writing experience consists of translations, love letters, sonnets, and ideas for a tv show my brother produces... he rarely uses my ideas though. My novel is .... behind schedule... back to work! bye.

I play a djembe (an african style drum)

Your favorite book/author:
I don't have just one. Instead it's a toss-up between Mercedes Lackey, Andre Norton, Terry Brooks, Terry Pratchett, Douglas Adams and Harry Turtledove. Clive Cussler is also good.

Your preferred genre:
fantasy (like you couldn't tell by my list)

Writing experience:
oh lord, can I plead the 5th? *g* I write fanfiction. I've written some stories based on Stargate Atlantis, Babylon 5 and Power Rangers (okay, you can stop laughing now ;). And I have it all out there on the net somewhere...

Tell us a little about your novel this year:
Fantasy novel with a scattering of dragons, some elves and magic. I can't say much else because my story is coming out in chunks and is completely disorganized at the moment. I have a general storyline in my head, but my muse keeps hitting me with segments at odd times *shrugs*

Hey there!! After the craziest week ever, I have finally found the time to look at the site... and look at this brand new thread!! So, here's my info.

Your Name: Kaylee

Your Favorite Color: Green

Tell us Something Interesting About you: I lived in Japan for a year and used to speak pretty decent Japanese... not so great any more due to lack of practice.

Your Favorite Book/Author: Anne Bishop, Candace Havens, Jennifer Estep, C.E Murphy, Jim Butcher, I know there's others...

Your Preferred Genres: Fantasy, Urban Fantasy, Mystery

Writing Experience: I wrote my first novel at 16, it was terrible, I mean awesomely bad. I've beeen writing ever since.

Tell Us A Little About Your Novel This Year: I'm writing a series of short stories about a paranormal coffee shop in Chicago and the people/creatures that frequent it. We've got Witches, Demons, Fae, Werewolves, Wizards, Vampires, and a psychic barista. In other words, the whole gang. If you have any fun drink suggestions or ingredients, let me know!

A picture of yourself if you want to share one: I have one on my profile thingy, if you want to look.

Your name: Muirae, which is why you can call me Kat. Much easier.

Your favorite color:dark rich greens and purples.

Tell us something interesting about you?: Hmm. Okay...how about this: One summer in college I lived in a 2 bedroom apartment with four guys, one of which I hated, two I had dated, another that I was secretly in love with. Eventually I married one of them. I won't say which. :)

Your favorite book/author: Favorite book ever would be The Time Traveler's Wife by Audrey Niffenegger. My favorite author would probably be Madeleine L'engle, or maybe Diana Gabaldon.

Your preferred genre: General fiction/historical fiction with a lean toward romance.

Writing experience: I've wanted to be a writer since I could first form letters. I had a poem I wrote at age seven published in Cat Fancy Magazine (I lied and said I was ten so they would take me seriously) and got paid $10 for it. In fourth grade my class produced a play I wrote. Between those two things I was hooked for life, even though those are the highlights of my career thus far. I've had things published in college and local newspapers along the way, and in a few literary rags that pay in copies, but that's about it.

Tell us a little about your novel this year: The basic premise is this: God and Satan created soulmates as a diversionary game to pass time, because it was so much fun to watch the stupid things people did "in the name of love." All souls have 10,000 years on earth and one soulmate to chase around during that time. Unfortunately for Kierra, my main character, she accidentally and irreparably splits her soulmate in two during their first lifetime and thus ends up with two soulmates for the rest of their lifetimes. My novel examines the highlights of those lives as Kierra is shown them by God (Howie) and Satan (Dev) when they tell her she must choose between the men: one will remain, and the other will be destroyed. Sounds all deep and depressing, except that Dev showed up as a sarcastic flaming homosexual and Howie is a rabid football fan. Go figure.

Tell us something interesting about you?:

I am a Switch and I have found that the Prisoner is probably one of the best television shows ever aired.

Your favorite book/author:

Kim Harrison for novels, John Donne for poems

Your preferred genre:

Sci/fi and fantasy

Writing experience:

Not much but I started working on a book two years ago. Unfortunately most of it was lost when the hd went unexpectedly.

Tell us a little about your novel this year:

Well I started off with no idea what I was going to write and did not even think of doing the challenge until the day before. So I sat down and started with a neat opening scene and just let it go from there. It takes place in the future where Corporations run just about everything and someone has just perfected a method to retain employees when they give notice. I am not to the main part yet but the MC is going to be the first test subject who is not impacted by the process and will escape.

A picture of yourself if you want to share one: Not today, sorry. Maybe after Indy.
Your name: I am Alex.
Your favorite color: Don't really have one, I guess it would be red, though. (No, not a State fan. Not a team-that-starts-with-a-C fan either.
Tell us something interesting about you?: There's not a whole lot to tell. I'm a band geek and have gone to two different leadership training conferences.
Your favorite book/author: That's a tough one. I'm into some Alex Flinn right now, Alex Rider's pretty good... Ooh, The Kingdom Keepers is good, and... *voice fades out to a dull monotone*
Your preferred genre: Fantasy (but not like elves and princesses and stuff... I mean magic in a relatively modern world, even though I am addicted to the Inheritance Trilogy (and now I'm going to lose all my credibility)).
Writing experience: What writing experience? I've been writing fanfic since fifth grade, wrote two short stories before that. In sixth grade, I attempted to get a book published. Fortunately, the deal fell through. The book was a piece of crap that I will have to burn the next time I actually manage to find it. It's just... AWFUL. I've done NaNo once before... and lost miserably at about twenty-five K.
Tell us a little about your novel this year: I've had to restart three times. The first one was about a fictional code of chivalry in today's gaming culture, but that's more short-story-esque. The second one was a whodunit about a sax-playing band geek who gets thrown out of commission when he hurts himself. And the one I'm going to use, I've been planning since about January and was going to do after NaNo. This dude, Chip, he's in a car crash and loses his sight the day his band gets a record deal. So he's having to learn how to live again while dealing with all this other stuff.

So, yeah. I'm about 98% crazy and 2% nuts.

Beyond the chea...

Your favorite book/author: "Demon In My View"/Amelia Atwater-Rhodes, "Night Train to Rigel"/Timothy Zahn, "Manta's Gift"/Timothy Zahn, "Without You"/Anthony Rapp

Your preferred genre: pretty much everything, though I have a particular liking for sci-fi/fantasy stuff

Writing experience: http://www.fanfiction.net/~Beforethesunsets I've written a LOT of fanfictions, mostly RENT, but this is my first big original fiction attempt, and I must say it's going rather well

Tell us a little about your novel this year: It's cliched, it involves vampires. That's all I really wanna say. I can confidently tell you this novel will never see the light of day once it is finished, as it has far too many cameos by favorite characters and it just didn't turn out like I wanted it to (in a bad way). Ah well, I shall take it to 50k!

I don't have a picture here... I'm at work.
Name: Kate
Favorite Color: Red
Something Interesting About Me: I'm originally from Upstate new York
Favorite Book/Author: Right now I'm very inspired by Jodi Picoult. I also love John Irving, Sara Gruen, and Nicholas Evans
Preferred Genre: I enjoy writing stories that involve horses in some way. Romance usually plays a role as well.
Writing experience: I've had a couple of poems published here and there, but other than that I have always just kept my writing between me and trusted friends. I'm too self-conscious to put it out there in any other means.
My novel this year: It's about a young woman, Natalie, whose parents forced her into competitive show jumping. She's ridden since the age of five, but has hated ever moment of it because she's hated competing. A serious car accident leaves her unable to ride. The bulk of the novel is about her finding what she really wants to do with her life, and recovering from years of being angry and bitter.
