The need for coffee is getting very strong for me, but I'll be attending the write-in at Starbucks so that should satisfy that particular need.

Is anyone else having dreams (or nightmares) that it's the 30th of November and you've forgotten to do any writing?!

I was really struggling today. I tried writing in silence as I thought the reason I was getting distracted was because I was too busy singing along to stuff to actually write. It didn't work.
Still, I'm up to 9000 words (OK, it's not much compared to you but I'm happy with it!) and I know where I'm going for the next few days at least. And on the soundtrack front I've discovered I write best to Judy Garland and The Auteurs. So much so that Luke Haines (lead singer of The Auteurs) is going to turn up in my novel as an evil travelling theatre company director.

I'm doing better than I'd feared even if that is still not as well as I'd hoped. At least I resisted the temptation to chuck the whole lot out after day two and try something completely different. And although I think I've been overly ambitious I've also got a clearer idea about where this is headed and how it will get there, so I'm feeling a quite perverse sense of optimism right now.

Holy moley Hurley Murley! Slow down, you're making me dizzy!

I got a bit behind over the weekend, but I did a lot of writing today and am feeling good. It was the most fun day so far, definitely. At the moment, I'm glad I chose to do this. When I'm tearing my hair out around day 25 I'm sure I'll reconsider that...

Hey Mr Wizzle

I'm in Hadleigh a stones throw from you only I'm not there yet. Am away but home tomorrow evening. Connection out here is dial up so need to catch up on the gossip. Hayley don't you ever sleep? Only teasing!. When is the Southend starbucks write-in? Is the word war something different to NaNo?

Do I have to sign up? It's all I can do at the minute to keep writing daily and meeting my quota. I've tried to get ahead a bit but heavens Hayley - you must be au fait at this. Good for you! Keep it up.

I'm not doing so well to be honest. Only into the 5000s now.

I hadn't bargained on the teachers deciding that november was a perfect month to set all the work, as well as a million (or so it seems) tests, giving me only about an hour after I've finished school related work to write before I get too tired to string more than 3 words together. And of course, it takes me ten minutes jsut to get into the swing of writing.

No problem, I told myself on Friday.

Then my weekend turned out to be extraudinarily busy. Spent the whole of Saturday doing weekend homework, spent sunday meeting up with much missed friends, and got homelater than planned.

And next weekend looks bleak with the promise of more schoolwork, and a fireworks display late saturday night.

[/vent]

Sorry for anyone who had to sit through that.

After lagging behind on the wordcount all weekend, I got back on track! I've even got a vague idea of where the plot migh go for the rest of the week.

Of course, my characters are still lacing in personality, but I'm hoping that'll develop soon and then I can fix the earlier chapters in the December edit.

I do sleep- a hell of a lot! But I'm between jobs at the moment so I get up, do a little writing. Get a drink, do a little writing. Watch Neighbours, do a little writing. It all adds up pretty fast!

The only downside is that now my redundancy money is running out and I have to get a job pretty soon, but I'm terrified of having interviews. I've only ever had one proper interview and then I didn't get the job. Apart from that I'd end up turning up for the interview, they'd say this is the money and the start date, do you want it?

At 14026, which sounds fairly good, but that's only because I'm still going over the material I did for the previous film-script version of this project. Going to have to sit down and do some serious new-writing soon...

Keeping aside one three-thousand word chunk of old material that I know will have to go in. That's so I still have something in reserve come November 30... :-)

Having a fragmented, non-linear structure helps in a way, 'cos I don't have to worry about how it all holds together (which it doesn't). Not looking forward to disentangling the mess in December, though.

I didn't know you had an interview Hayley, who with? Anyway, I think you should have a day off writing to a) give your mum a chance to do some of her novel (which, judging by her excerpt, is going to be comedy genius) and b) give me a chance to catch up!
I'm unemployed like you, yet I'm just about on target every day. There's something wrong there, I'm sure...

I haven't got an interview, I was just saying (or trying to say!) that I'm terrified of the prospect. The interview I mentioned was one I went to about three years ago!

OK, ignore me, I can't read properly! Anyway, I shouldn't be on here, I should be writing. I've not done anything today as yet, which is very bad of me! Though there's football on telly tonight which means I can ignore hubby and write for a couple of hours without feeling guilty while he watches it.

It's going very well. I'm over the half way mark and loving it.

One thing that helps me is to not leave the story at the end of a paragraph or chapter, but to write at least one sentence of the next bit. That way when I get back to it, I've got a jump start.

But I should be writing, and so should you! ;)
