No, I don't have a writer's block. 10,000 words down the line, I don't feel my novel is interesting enough. I'm beginning to lose interest. If I really set my mind to it, I can write the 50K (and I do plan to do that), but....
Anyone else face this? Each time I start on a fiction idea, something better seems to come along.

Well, if you lose interest, what are the odds that someone else will read it? The question is why??? Maybe you are going into too much detail? may be you're describing routine?
each new idea does not necessarily have to be a standalone story: a good novel (i think, unless it action, maybe) tends to be a tapestry of subplots, with one main plot underlining or underlying it all...
my solution: I usually jump to another point in time, or change the POV or change the MC at times like this, and try to weave teh new idea into the old story via a different thread.
but of course, i don't have a lot of experience. and i might be wrong, but you can try changing something that was uniform so far.

I'm back on tracks folks, thanks to camphor's advice. I have a tip of my own. Write, even if it makes no sense to you right now. I was talking to a published author recently (Vinod and Anita were there too), who told us that it took him as many as 100 revisions before he was ready to publish. I figure, to make that many revisions, you need to have the material, right? So lets NaNoWriMo on.
Something else to think about - if it took Kiran Desai 7 years (84 months!) to get one novel ready, we're already doing pretty good!
