Hello everybody, I thought I'd give you all my little intro.

Obviously I'm from Colburn, and not Darlington, and for this I hope you will forgive me. I first heard about NaNoWriMo after last years event and figured it would be a good thing to get myself involved in this year. So I put it in my reminders on my computer, which decided to blow up in July, and I completely forgot about it. I happened across the site yesterday, and then thought "Bugger, I was planning on doing that this year!" Weird thing is that I'd actually started writing something yesterday anyway, so I've ended up making that my entry for this year. At the time of writing I'm only up to 2065 words, and I'm wasting good writing time by posing this message, but I've got Chris de Burgh on my iPod for my perfect writing environ, Harry Potter on the DVD player, MS Word for Mac up and running, and just found out that my daughter has fed my Spark To A Flame tape to the cats.

So, yeah, there you go. Good luck to everybody, and happy writing!

Is Colburn that bad that you have to apologise for being from there?? :-) hell, you are talking to people in Darlington....

Anyhoo, welcome and best of luck! Just out of interest, how did you hear about this last year? We were in the northern echo briefly, but I sincerely doubted that anyone saw it!!

You're very welcome to come to our write-in on Saturday if you can get in to Darlo - its in Cafe Nero, a good chance to meet everyone else and get caffeinated!

Yes, I can honestly say that Colburn is that bad! Have you ever been here? :)

As for hearing about this last year, I'm subscribed to a lot of writing newsletters from around the net, so I check out the writing competitions. One of them, I can't remember which, gives links to local competitions and events, which led me to this site, but it was already mid-november, so I couldn't really start that late in (or so I thought!)

I would love to come on Saturday, but sadly I'm skint, and I have four kids (very young - I was in the echo last year too! http://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/search/display.var.866850.0.cancer_surv... ) so it's a bit difficult! :)

Anyway, I must get back to writing, because I can only write on a night when the kids are in bed, and if I don't get back to it I'll end up too far behind. I should probably stop reading my emails too, but that's just one of the disadvantages of having broadband! :P

Got it at www.nowrists.com, as I have now decided to update in my sig. It's cool, huh? It'd be even better if my novel had anything to do with cars. :) It's a bit more music-oriented than car-oriented. In fact I think I've only had two vehicles in the novel so far - one milk van and one helicopter... oh and a small mention of low flying G4s in the Yorkshire Dales. :P

Maybe I should have used this one:
