Since everyone knows that iBook users are an inherently superior class of human beings, I am proposing a word war between aforementioned persons in the Cambridge region.

A cynic might suggest that I am only doing this because because there exist a yet more superior class of mystical beings called 'MLs', who exist in both this and a parallel universe, and, by pooling their words counts from both, achieve twice the word count of mere mortals.

Either way, whose up for it?

I'll give yer a run fer yer money, laddy, I've got bigger biceps (got to help the word out put somehow) than last year from jigging the baby and I've got a chocolate addiction like nobody's elses. My prose is crap cause I never get any sleep but I write lots of it when I can.

Sadly my iBook bit the dust a while back, thanks to a freak accident involving a suicidal bookshelf laden with "how to write" books and a glass of water :(

Besides,

a) I write on an Alphasmart now, and

b) there's no way I can keep up with you guys

Good luck!

It is, but not reliably. Maybe it reloads the picture from cache, or maybe the image gets generated only once a day or something. Or is this just a clever ruse so's I will go and investigate and meanwhile you write lots of words?

I have an iBook! But how does a word war work? Do we try to outdo each other word wise? Or just trump each others' daily quotas? I'm not aiming to get out lots and lots of words this months, just my 50,000 and to stay on track, so if anybody's steaming ahead I'm already a word war loser... And I wouldn't want to inflict than on my iBook!!!

IIRC, the widgets use the XML API, which gets updated once a day - it's not a "live feed" from the database. I have the same problem with the regional wordwar scoreboard I'm setting up...

The idea was just to give me the possibility (if not likelihood) of coming out top in a word war. So it's total words that count, at the end I guess.
