Hello, good NaNoers of Fantasy,

I come as an ambassador from Other Genres hoping for your input on something. We in Other Genres have found that there's a pretty respectable number of people who wish there was (or would be happy about) a forum or subforum for Supernatural/Paranormal. Is there anyone here who would be excited about such a forum, or use it if it was established for future NaNos?

Your support can earn the Supernaturalists a forum of their own. We would be super excited about this, and we'd be super excited if you joined us, so all support is very much appreciated. Meanwhile, our main thread is here: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/1005022

--if you want to drop in and say hallo to us. ^_^

Thanks!

I dunno, I always thought that Supernatural/Paranormal fell into the Fantasy, Horror and (to a lesser degree) Science Fiction categories. I may need to look at the main thread to see if there is a difference though.

Yeah, I'd figure Supernatural/Paranormal stuff went in either Fantasy or Horror/Thriller, depending on the approach.

I'm generally against the creation of new genre forums unless it's really clear that they're totally separate, because every time a new subgenre forum gets split off, it increases the number of people who post saying, "Is my story really [genre]? I'm not sure and I'm worried that if I post in a forum that's not the exact one and only possible objectively correct one, people will get mad at me and kick my puppy," and also the chances that people will actually go, "What're you posting here for?! Your story is [different genre]!" and kick their puppy.

Think of the puppies!

(Though, IME, NaNoWriters are pretty good about politely directing people to different forums and not taking the kick at their puppy.)

Yeah, I've always thought Supernatural/Paranormal was either Fantasy or Horror (depending on the setting and the degree of magic involved). I might consider my own story to have a subgenre of supernatural...
