For each chapter that I write, I name it after a song that fits the chapter. For example when my MC is reunited with her ex-lover. That chapter is named Hello Stranger. The chapter name is followed by the lyrics the artist and the year it was recorded.
I do my writing first and then name the chapter. So far I haven't had problems finding songs for Chapter Titles. One problem I am running into is finding songs that are for friendships between women.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am looking for songs from the late 60's and early 70's.
thanks

You've Got a Friend - Carole King
Thank You For Being a Friend - Andrew Gold (it's really non-gender specific -- you might remember it from the Golden Girls
That's the only two I can think of off the top of my head.

Thanks for the Carole King title. I forgot about it, but did have Thank You For Being a Friend. I also have I Get By With A Little Help from My Friends.

"We are family" (I've got all my sisters with me)
"Friends are Friends Forever"
Maybe... "I hope you dance"?
Or the old girl scout classic... "Make new friends, but keep the old"... :-)

I love the whole naming chapters after songs thing. It's kinda what greys anatomy does, you know? I did that for two of my chapters, one is called "A Day In The Life" and the other is called "Lean on Me".
And if you're familiar with Sweeney Todd, you know the song "A Little Priest" well I've got a chapter called "A Little Socialite."
but it's not about cannibal pies lol... =b

I'm doing something similar; in my story, I'm naming chapters after other stories with a similar theme that influenced it. The theme of my story is popularity, so some of the chapeters are called:
Mean Girls (starring Lindsay Lohan)
The Clique (by Lisi Harrison)
Clueless (starring Alicia Silverstone)
Blubber (by Judy Blume)
How To Be Popular (by Meg Cabot)
...
and so on.
I copied this trick from John Varley's Millennium, where he named every chapter after a time-travel story.
