I saw this on the All-Ages Coffee Shoppe forum, but I thought it would be more interesting for us, since we know where the others are talking about. I would have to say the stranges place I've ever written for nano is in the bar at the Double Eagle Casino in Cripple Creek. My hubby and folks wanted to go last November, and I would have rather stayed home. But, I sucked it up and got a spiral notebook and lots of pens. Then my hubby (bless his heart) offered up his laptop and an external disc drive. I probably got about 3000 words written there in the bad light with the bells and whistles going off all around me.

Well, last year, before I officially decided to pull out of NaNo, I wrote while staying at a compound in Okahow, Namibia. Not weird exactly, but rather interesting :)

That's a fun question.

The most unusual places I can think of where I've written during NaNo are the back row during church choir practice and sitting in a camper at an RV park.

I love that! During choir practice! Did anyone notice you were typing and not singing?

I was sneaky. And I was writing on scraps of paper from my purse, so it wasn't super obvious. Probably just looked like I was making a to-do list or something.

Last week I had to take my car in to have the brakes worked on and I knew it would take at least a couple hours. So I took my laptop along and just had a great time writing while waiting at Midas Muffler.

Hmm, the shower? Well not TYPING exactly since I didn't have my laptop, but writing in my mind as the water sluiced the ideas from head to toe.

The shower? Actually, that is a great place for inspiration. Inspiration hits you in the strangest places.

I actually wrote underneath my computer monitor, in dim lighting, with the screen turned off. I tried this because I spilled juice all over much of my carpet and didn't want my computer chair on top of it. So I had nowhere to actually sit upright. It worked pretty well...though most of the parts written there are a little...excessive.

At work--I"m a cashier at a walmart! Haha. Those self-checks are really boring, so I brought my little writing notebook with me, and wrote in it when no one was there buying stuff. Otherwise I have to watch them to make sure they're not stealing stuff.

I forgot- the first year I did NaNo I wrote while attending meetings for work. They were the kind where 100+ people sat in the auditorium and listened to BORING reports- so I got a seat at a back table and then wrote on scrap paper- I've also edited during these meetings as well (with my big notebook on my lap- and yet no one really noticed...)
