Dear Darwin,
Seeing as Melbourne is already crushing the rest of Australia, I feel that a fairer competition is in order. Your ML recently went around telling people not to complain on the forums, but to concentrate on writing - I propose we all do just that. I hereby personally challenge the Darwin region to a word war.

But while I have a Melbournite in my grasps... there's a store down there that sells ONLY magazines, in the middle of the city quite close to that store Minotaur... I think. Yes, I realise this is a terrible explanation but fingers crossed you know what I mean... It's a store that sells only magazines and I'm going crazy trying to find either their website or a phone number for them. Do you have any clue as to what it's called? ^^;
Sorry for the terrible explanation, I know Melbourne city is huge and that most people don't even bother going into it often... ^^;

Ummm was Minotaur on Elizabeth St at the tine? or was this back yearrrrrrrrs ago when it was on Bourke St? If you can give me a rough idea of where it is, I'll be in the city sometime later this week and I can have a look around while I'm there.
Oh, and is it a store you can just look in from outside, or is it hidden up some obscure staircase, or anything like that?

I'm pretty sure Minotaur was on Elizabeth street at the time, and the store is on the street so you can see it, walk in... and there's hundreds of magazines there then there's like, two sets of stairs to go upstairs and see even more magazines lol
I'm trying to remember how close it was to Minotaur though. I get a bit turned around in the middle of cities lol This wass.... oh, start of the year when I would have seen it, I think?
I could always ring minotaur and be all 'Sorry, this is a weird question, butt.... do you know of-' lol
I really need to write more of my NaNo. I'm totally stuck and my muse for it has wondered off and become lost. Sigh. Every other year I've done at least 125,000 words by the end of the month and this year I'll be lucky if I hit 50k :\ And to think my goal I was heading for was 150,000 lol

Sigh, around the halfway point I was perfectly on schedule for 200k (last year I was amazed to discover that 50k wasn't the limit, getting to 105... since then things have slowed to a crawl though. Still, at 35k, you should at least be able to get to 50 before the end of the month... then just hope for some bonus words!

I hope to get to 50k... but I'm just so annoyed at myself for being lazy and letting emo-drama problems impact on my novel. It's basically a seperate life, writing, so why did I let myself get so distracted by it? D: FAIL.
----------But as long as I get to 50k I guess it's technically okay. I'm just disappointed with myself.

Hurrah!
Hrm, personally, I actually started my novel (and completed several other parts) solely by letting my MC whine and rant about stuff for me - turn emo drama into word count!
I'm kinda disappointed in myself knowing I won't hit 200k anymore after a week or so's complete breakdown / recovery, but on the other hand, I was amazed to get beyond 100k last year, so I've still done a lot more this year. I think a more important goal, though, and one I haven't managed to do yet (fingers crossed for this year) is to actually complete a story. Try going for that one... I bet a lot of the high rollers completely fail at that.
