Thanks, ladies.

Congratulations also to phoenix.writing, Thom Whalen, and Ginette.Hawthorn, all of whom have passed the mark and kept going.

Way to write those novels, people.

Just reached it now, 12:50am on Nov 21 - and had to share it with my buddies here. Thank you all for the encouragement and friendly messages!

I'm so fricken proud of myself I can't even describe it.

Good luck to everyone else on your quest for 50K (I still have to wrap up the story, but that will be for another day). :)

Congrats to all who have made it and encouragement to those who are still on their way.
I hit 50 K 2 days ago and the scary thing is my novel is only just now getting to the interesting parts - damn character development.
So, I'll keep plugging away to help with our international word wars, because goodness knows once November is over my husband will be expecting me to put down the laptop and start helping around the house again.

I'm almost there.... I'll probably hit 50k sometime this weekend.

:) It's really exciting to see my bar so close to full!

Congratulations to all those who've reached 50k and to those who haven't, keep going - you can do it!

I can't believe I'm already there... which is a good thing, because I thought I was going to have two whole days to write, but it turns out I'm going to spend the day today learning the cello part to Handel's Messiah... for 2 concerts, tonight and tomorrow night! (I just got the music yesterday evening.) Ack!

I'll be doing what I can to bump the word count up though, whenever I get a chance, probably starting Monday. We can't have Naperville winning!!!

I wonder if one of your characters should attempt to learn it too, and blab all about it to his/her friends... ;)

Woot! I'm done! Just before midnight on the 24th! Congrats to everyone who's already hit the finish line and to everyone who's still racing towards it.

My actual plot (and I use the term loosely) is all wrapped up; however, since the original plan included any fanfiction I write this month being amalgamated into the story, I may still be able to add a few thousand more words to help our cause. I *do not* want to sing that Naperville song. :/

Welcome to the purple club!

As to Naperville, we were ahead but if I'm reading their graph right we're trailing again, which is highly annoying. Hopefully that will shoot up though once people start dropping their 50k on the board! (I know a couple of people who don't bother updating until close to the end of November, so here's hoping!)

*crosses fingers as she doesn't want to sing that song either*

It looks like the numbers don't update right away, at least for the region-homed totals. I added a couple thousand words to our overall numbers this evening (and 6000 overall today), and the only graph that updated under my NaNo stats is just my personal total, not the regional one. The numbers should change once it hits midnight on the West Coast, so we may narrow the gap or pass the Napervillians by morning.

Suffering from purple bar envy, I so wanted a bar in my favourite colour, that I pushed myself to day and got myself over that 50K mark, though barely. I intend to continue as I have no desire to sing a certain song, NO WAY! Congrats to everyone else who made it over that imaginary cross line, best of luck to everyone still targeting it and a great job to everyone who tried this year whether they make it to 50K or not.

Ooo, purple!

I've hit the mark, but the novel isn't done yet. So I'll be adding to Ottawa's Collective Word Count so we can kick the pants off our challengers. ;)

Congrats to the rest of the Purple Bar Club!

Thanks, Siobhan.

I've hit 50K but the story just got to the interesting part. I took today off so I could get a few more chapters done.

I don't want to sing that Naperville song, either!

I did it!

But, sad to say, the story was actually finished 1800 words before 50K so, while adding a sermon in the middle of the book worked to get my word count up, it won't be increasing much, if any, in the next few days. Sorry!

Just finished! Holy crud, but as much "fun" as that was, I won't be doing it next year... retail X'mas and a spouse and writing 50,000? Egad...

Still, I did it. :)

Bah! That's the fun part! I've done this while in school full time, working part time, and having to write essays!

This is addictive, you know you want to do it next year!

I should join the purple club tomorrow. I'm planning on being at the write-in tomorrow to pad my word count a little more.

So far, I am|will be two for two. I'll try this again next year, but my hands started complaining this past week about the abuse they took.

I made it! :-D

At just shy of 10:45 last night, I hit 50K and kept going. Hurrah! :-D

I may or may not add an epilogue to the story - it would mean extra word-count for me (Yay! Regional ass-kicking! Hurrah!), but the next two days are going to be stupidly busy (thence the rush to finish by Wednesday instead of Friday).
So we shall see. :-D

But, yay! Done! Hurrah! And general celbrations. :-D

See you all at the TGIO. :-D

Thank you.

Yes, I made it. :o)))

I'll try to write the last scene at the pen & paper this morning and will then undertaking the portentous step of verifying my wordcount. I don't think I can in all conscience make it to the write in today. I already skipped three French classes this month. If I had to put on a last bout of speed, it would be different, but I think it'll come down to writing in the morning and class in the evening.

Good luck and fortitude everyone for making those blue bars green (and purple),
Anja

Congrats Anja - and everyone else who's reached 50K!!

Anja - LOVE your Garfield picture! We are huge fans here (my kids would argue that it's a pretty accurate depiction of what I look like on those REALLY early soccer tournament mornings) :D

Congrats all!

I just finished a few minutes ago as well.

Feels great. This is my second year in a row and I'm so glad I found out about this competition last year cause I feel it consistently reminds me of what we are all capable of accomplishing.

I'm going to see if I can add a bit more to my totals, provided my hands are up to the challenge.

I did it! Two for two baby!
I still have a bit more plot left over. The hard part now is keeping the motivation to finish it (unlike last year's story)
