This is actually for the prequels to my main stories but it may come up in the main one so i'd like to settle this part of the backstory.

I have two charas, a bard and the son of a mercenary captain. They meet at the inn where he stops some guys hastling her and invites her to come along with their mercenary group and do what amounts to PR. Start writing songs about their exploits and how damned good they are and how "We're very manly you want to hire us".

She likes him a lot but finds out from the other mercs that he has a rep for having a woman in every town and doesn't want to be just some floozy to him. She also finds out he's stubborn. He starts trying his luck and she starts playing hard to get, banking on him not giving up because he's too stubborn and then being too stubborn to let go of the victory once he has it. It works, in the main story they've been together for ten years and their still in love and happy together with two kids by the time their part of the main story arc ends.

What io'm trying to figure out is when and how she finally caved and they ended up getting together. I'm figuring she's probably teased him with a few near misses and kisses, but i'm thinking of when they finally get together as a couple. Originally it was going to be when his dad died and he needed her support, but I know want them allready together by that point.

Currently I have two ideas. One is that he gets wounded and she rushes to his side, but whilst logical it's a bit trite and overdone. One is that they end up in a river together, she's descended from the sea *LONG STORY* and she tends to go back to her baser instincts in the water, so that might work.

I am however fishing for various other ideas . Help?

Also at the mo i'm aiming for her leading him along for about 6 months as a friend asures me that by middle ages/renaisance standards thats a long time for the common folk especially when she's about 16 at the time so nearing 20 by which time you'd be expected to be married off, and so wasting more than a year would be drastically cutting in on her chances of having a familly. Does that sound like a long time to hold out or do people think longer might sound better to modern readers. bear in mind the guy IS that stubborn
