And who's still writing?
I'm getting there ... hope to hit 40K today, so that Thanksgiving won't mess me up too much.

heh.. I finished on the 19th, actually.
Although, my story isn't anywhere near finished. I've got a solid portion of up to day 3 or 4, then a bunch of random scenes I was connecting together when I hit 50,000....

I did have big plans on Saturday when I reached 30,000 that I would do 5,000 a day and finish by today. That obviously didn't happen but I made it to 35,000 at least. Unfortunately I hit more snags and got nothing written yesterday whatsoever. I need to get back on it today though.
Has anybody seen the Valley Planet article? They garbled one of my comments, actually two. They merged two sentences together so it doesn't make much sense. They did it with someone else's comment as well. I don't feel too bad--I noticed another article in the issue by someone else and they did the same thing with them. Guess that's what happens when you have deadlines. Our novels may be just as garbled. I'm glad that they gave us some coverage though.

I saw it, it wasn't too bad. I didn't think anyone came out sounding too garbled, though some of the responses were clearly edited. Which ones did you think were bad? Which were yours?
Let's see, they quoted Chris Baty and the website (of course), Kristen Shields (which is me), Brian Bess, John Bjorne, and Rick Hill (with picture! cool). Not knowing which username goes with which person, I don't know if these are active forum folks or not.
Anyway, I don't think we came out sounding too insane, though I may be biased in our favor, of course. LOL.
I think it could have done our region more good if she's mentioned how many (some two hundred plus) are affiliated with north Alabama, rather than a mere 35 Huntsvillians that she quotes. (And how do we know there's only 35 in Huntsville? Where did that number come from?) And she refers to the online support, but I don't think there's any mention of the local get-togethers, and not a mention of the final party that our MLs were hoping for. So that's a pity. It sounds like a much smaller local group than it really is.
If I could cut and paste I would, but it doesn't seem to want to.

I'm Brian Bess (grizzercoon) and this is what I sent her that got twisted in print:
In answer to the question 'What inspired you to want to participate in National Novel Writing Month?'
I wrote:
The audacity of writing a novel in a month, plus the belief that the imposed deadline might actually make it possible to succeed.
The article says 'the imposed deadline might actually make it possible to succeed the audacity of writing a novel in a month's time". This really makes no sense. They put the first part of my sentence at the end and I think I sound like an idiot.
I also think she could have mentioned more about the number of people participating, all the write-ins, kickoffs, end of the month parties, etc.

Ah. Yeah. I saw that, and I could tell it had gotten garbled a bit. It doesn't make you look like an idiot, though... it was clearly an editorial error.
You're at 37k... WE know you're a genius. :)

I can't believe how fast November has flown! I tried to get far enough ahead last night so that I could take today off and not feel so bad about it. I'll try to write some more when I get home from T'day feasting with family.
Pass the cranberry sauce while i see if I can figure out how to trap my murderer into revealing his nefarious deeds..... heh, heh.

Absolutely! I'm at the same plot point.
I'm daring all my (American) Nano buddies to incorporate turkey in the story today, with bonus points for cranberry sauce.

I'm currently aiming for hitting 25k by the 30th, which might actually be manageable for me. I've been really lazy, but I've gotten farther this year than in the two years previous combined. That's something.

You are an inspiration. Maybe I can even make it this year?
Big congrats on finishing early,
