I made it. 40,090.

There's no way the novel will actually be finished at 50k, but I'm going to make 50k in terms of word count for the month.

If that made any sense. Er.

40,675

I would dance with glee, but the cat keeps trying to sit on my laptop because I'm up past my bedtime.

But I made it. Less than 10k to go...

So this year's nano has totally got away on me. I started not expecting to break halfway, writing in a genre I've never written before with less of a plot idea than I've every started a story with.
And here I am at 40,050. And not stopping. I want to snap fifty this weekend. This is pretty cool.
Good Luck All!

I pushed past the 40K mark late last night and fell over after enjoy an order of 40k pizza.

I'm pretty much in the same boat as Crow, I honestly think am about half way through the novel at this point in time.. Characters have come together nicely, They have discouvered who they are and are both in the process of learning and talking about what they are with an experienced Shaman.

I have 8 handwritten pages that I need to type up and I've written about 3400 words so far today (going for 7500), so if I'm not at 40 000, I'm very close. I still have a huge list of things I need to do in the book, so mine won't end at 50 000 words either. So I may still be writing 1667 words a day well into December, because I know if I stop, I'll never start again.

Just over 40,000. I think I can, I think I can, finish. One more big push and....I'll be over the 50K

40,038 now, just one more chunk of plot to set up and execute. If I run out of story before I get to 50K, I'll go back and enhance some of the descriptive passages.

Now I know why the subject heading includes "*cheers weakly and falls over*"

This experience is like exercising. You know that you SHOULD do that extra 1,000 words because it's good for you...but you really don't want to. But you push yourself anyway and do a word count every few seconds snarling each time, wondering why it has only increased a couple hundred words. ARGH! When will it be over?! And then, lo and behold, you get your second wind, sprinting over your goal AND adding a couple hundred more words for good measure.

Now I can go eat that chocolate bar.

40410 and I'm ready to peel my contacts off my eyes, but scared to leave the story and my frantically typing fingers. I'm really scared that I might not make it this year. I really want to. Not sure if I will though.
Man am I repeating myself.
Cheering weakly and going to fall over. bye bye now.
