Yes, it's nearly time to upload those final wordcounts after a week of frantic typing... which means that it's also nearly time for the TGIO Party!
As always, the party is open to everyone who took part, whether or not you hit the 50k mark.

(There will also be a weeknight TGIO party in the first week of December - details to be decided very shortly!)

***

Event: 'Thank God It's Over' Party (Weekend Edition)
Date: Saturday, the 1st of December, 2007
Start Time: 2pm (probably finishing around seven-ish)

Venue: The Round Table, Leicester Square.
We will be in the upstairs room, which is completely separate from the bar, so under-18s should be okay.
The pub sells food, but the quality (and, indeed, supply) has been unpredictable of late, I would recommend having lunch somewhere else beforehand.

Directions: The pub is in St. Martin's Court, just off Charing Cross Road - see map.

(For those coming in via Leicester Square tube: exit the station on to Charing Cross Road, and turn left - St. Martin's Court will be the first turning on your left past the big theatre.)

How to spot your fellow writers: Look out for our cuddly meerkat!

Things to bring: If you'd like to share excerpts from your novel, that would be splendid (...and I promise not to force anyone to read out loud!). Needless to say, cuddly mascots are also still very much welcome. :)

Special Features: I will be bringing along this year's official NaNo goodies, which are exceedingly nifty. (Don't worry, weeknight-only people - I'll do my best to set some aside for you!)

Poot poot! Can't wait to join you all in the winners' enclosure. Not that I'm counting chickens before dusk or anything...

I'm so cross I can't come to this. I (and Little Dog) had lots of fun at the launch and halfway parties.

Anyone fancy having a TGIO a day later (or maybe midweek the week after)? Or anyone fancy going to two?

Abi (who is, slowly but surely, going to get to 50k even if she has to spend all week at work doing it)

Brilliant! I'm not quite technically a Londoner, but it's by far the easiest place for me to get to for a TGIO Party. Would it be okay if I turned up? (And brought my friend / editor / person who's intending to have a go herself next year?)

I would so love to be there but I have no idea what I will do.

I'm working till 5.30 on Saturday at Angel, and then I have to be at work on Sunday at the same place at 9.30. It's the first time I've ever had to do this, talk about sod's law. As I have something like Chronic Fatigue Syndrome I'm not entirely sure I can make it to the whole of the work weekend and to the meet. The work weekend 'is not optional.' Rude words. I'm not even sure if I could make an evening do but I might try to get to the midweek if I miss this one.

I will stay calm and relaxed about this. I WILL stay calm and relaxed. I'm relaxed for pete's sake!

Anyway, if I don't make it, I hope you all have a wonderful time and I'll catch up with any of you who persevere and come to later meets.

I really hope I can come. It all depends on the parents. *sigh* I really enjoyed the kick-off, so it'd be nice to find out how everyone did. Hopefully I can manage my 20k in 4 days. =S

Also, I think I have a concert that night so i might have to dash off pretty swiftly to get home for it... hmmm...

I think there's quite a wide definition of "London". It certainly includes Surrey, so I don't see why it can't include Buckinghamshire.

Um...what are the goodies? I have kids (small ones!) and can't come into the pub with them. :( I might be able to off load them for an hour for goodies though!

I'd love to come - it's open to anyone right? This is my first year, and I didn't realise there was an opening night event or a mid-term one or i'd have come to both! D'oh! Will be there with bell on!

Thanks for organising it!

I shall try to come for a wee bit, but I really need to work on my essay. It's due in on Monday, and my plan of working on it all day yesterday got scuppered by my, uh, incapacitation after Tuesday night...

I should be coming, with a single copy of my hopefully finished novel. For I am 1333 words away from completing NaNo, I still have a war and some other stuff to add into the story which will bring it up quite a lot (the word count I mean) past the 50k goal. I am going to hope that it will be done before saturday.

Also, I will be coming late I am afraid, well it is most likely that I will be late anyway. But if all goes well, I will attend my first time meeting up with NaNoers. It was unfortunate I could not attend the write ins, and I didn't know about it before the kick off party, because I only found out about NaNo on the second.

Hope to see many of you there,
Andrew

At past TGIOs I think it's been good when everyone brought something to be read out but they were handed round so nobody had to read out their own.

I don't want to print the whole thing off. (I've ordered a lulu copy for that.) So now, which bits are the best bits? Or are there any good bits at all?

I'm still hoping to look in on my way past after work, if any of you are still there and if I'm not on my knees by then! I'd better pack WINS* just in case.

I'd really like to try and drop by. Having just finally finished my 50,000 with under two hours to go, I'm undergoing a strange but definite sense of relief and elation :)

This has been my first year and I only found out about the whole thing through Chris Baty's 'No plot? No problem!' book on the 4th of November, so I missed the launch event and wasn't able make the mid-month one either.

It'd be a pleasure to read/hear some other people's works. I'm not sure if I can find a bit of mine that I wouldn't be too embarrassed to show, or at least before some major editing.

Congratulations to everyone who made it and to everyone who tried!

I really enjoyed seeing you all again, even though I couldn't stay for long.

Oh, and by the way, I found ninja squirrel's hat after all. It was in my bag all the time. (Where's an embarrassed smiley when you need one?)

Hope to see you all again next month,
Gina

They're great photos! I love the mountain of Muhammed's. And there's some lovely black and white portraits in there.
