Just a quick reminder that we'll be having our usual write-in at Starbucks on New Street from 12 o'clock onwards. It'll be a good opportunity for those, like me, who have fallen behind on their word counts, to catch up. As ever, we'll be having intensive 45 minute sessions of furious typing/scribbling, interspersed with coffee and chatting breaks.
Look forward to seeing you there!
John

Well, that was a nice end to four years of meetings at Starbucks...
I can understand them being concerned about us grabbing too many tables - that's fair enough, and we were fine without two of them. But then to try to harass us into leaving because "paying customers" needed the space is ridiculous, given that five other tables were empty when I left and had been for about an hour beforehand. I hope they appreciated the space I left behind. It's especially annoying after I cleared it with the manager beforehand and left a contact card so that they could get in touch if we were causing a problem.
I think they saw us working away quietly and someone got it into their head that we weren't buying drinks. Well, each year previously I've always put a tenner into the tips jar on the last day - not this time. I'm sure they missed it!
Anyway, good luck finding somewhere to whoever takes over as ML next year. If we return to Starbucks but pretend we don't know each other it should be fine! One alternative, if anyone wanted to go for somewhere a bit quieter, might be somewhere like the reference library.
