Life spent the last 3 weeks using me as a punching bag, but I got a chance to get some words this weekend, and I swear to God I'll be back in here to give a woohoo! later.

In the meantime, congrats to each and every one of you!

Well, ok by Nano standards I haven't officially won. As I haven't updated my final word count. However, it was officially done on my end on Saturday night. I am pulling through the mist a very um *think of nice word here* wonderful group of friends in an online circle of mine. One poor girl started very late to the game and is making record speeds. Not quite your's Jason but all the same. I have vowed not to update my final word count until all of them (there are 4 of us) have achieved purple status as well. Now if push comes to shove and someone doesn't, heaven forbid, make the counts I'll still update at the last moment. I want them all to feel that rush that comes from winning your first Nano. I just wrote and posted my last pep talk (perhaps) to the group as a whole and they know that my winning hinges on their winning. But unofficially yet officially in my book it is won and complete.

It was a long, cruel haul to the finish, but I made it there. Whew.

Woohoo! I'm purple! Hooraaay!

The weird part is, my novel is winding to a close. That's amazing. (This does not mean that it is destined to be short, because I really skimped on development of setting and other such details; adding them will flesh it out quite a bit.) I've never been remotely close to finishing before at 50K, but now, all the big action has passed and things are naturally wrapping up. At least it seems natural at this time... I'm sure I will be horrified by what I find later. Editing is for March. For now, there is much rejoicing. :)

For those who didn't read my post in the stress thread, my novel decided to play a practical joke on me yesterday. Instead of being in my possession where it was supposed to be, it ran off for an evening of mayhem that resulted in it being in the police station for me to bail out the next day. As in, I lost my flash drive (with the latest version of my novel on it), panic ensued, a part-time student who also happened to be a cop found it, he left it at the police station (which I had to find), and I picked it up there this afternoon. But until I knew it was safe and had it in my hands, I was quite frantic.

Moral of the story: Be very careful with putting your novel in a little place. Keep track of that little place. And if you should happen to lose it, have a backup file and/or have it found by a cop, who kinda has to take care of it. :)

Congratulations to everyone! You rock!!!

This morning I was over 5 thousand words to go and I hit an amazing train of thought that rampaged on through to the end. Before I thought about it there was the finishing line BEHIND ME..... I'd passed it while writing about wild dreams, dinner at a diner, dancing at the local bar and planning a charity Texas Hold'em tournament. Now I'm on a roll and HAVE to finish the ding dang book!

I usually finish, and a lot sooner, but I didn't have as much time to write as usual. However, my best statement is that the novel reeks only half as much as usual and I'm closer to finishing it than the last few years. Does that make any sense?

Oh wait. I forgot to do something.....yes....here it is....WOOOHOOOOO!!!!

So I haven't actually participated in any of the Springfield stuff but...

I MADE IT!

This month... Spent 12 days in the hospital with my now 4mo old, he had surgery the day before Thanksgiving. I had a sinus infection, 4 yo daughter had a sinus infection, 6yo daughter had a sinus infection, ear infection and bronchitis [all while I was at the hospital with DS], 2 yo daughter was sick but never sick enough for the doctor. DH made the comment that he was the only healthy one until he woke me up screaming on Wed with a kidney stone [spent all day in the ER, urologist, pharmacist, lunch and walmart, home for 1.5 hours until leaving to pick up kids and head to church]. Had 17xxx to go on Thursday. 12xxxx to go on Friday but I made it with a whole hour to spare! Now large chunks will likely be deleted and/or edited significantly and I contradicted myself more than once when I wrote nonlinearly [which I loathe] but I finished and December is for editing right?

I did make it, on the very last day... actually wrote the last bit over lunch, and I'm sorry to say I then went home after work and -collapsed-. I wasn't even able to be happy about it until I'd slept 12 hours and woke up on Saturday. :-x

But now I'm ecstatic! :-D

Congrats to everyone who won, and Congrats to everyone who participated!
