Has anything been organised? Will anything be organised?
I'm willing to do it if no one else will, but I'll wait for our ML's to make a decision.

The best time is going to be this weekend, but this Saturday or Sunday? Sunday works better for me.
I'd be happy with something cheapish and maybe outside. I know I haven't been getting as much vitamin D this month since I've been hiding inside on my computer trying to writing. I have a small BBQ which I am offering to bring along, if people want to bring bbq meats/vegie patties and salads.

DeniseB also suggested that people might want to have a share and swapping of stories, or chapters. I'm happy to print out and bring a few of my better chapters of my story along to read. Hopefully others will join us. I'll stress that this is purely optional, because I know some people don't want to share, or don't want to share their whole stories. It's just a bit of additional fun for people who want to.

I was wondering what (if anything) was being planned for the TGIO party. I'm glad you mentioned it as time is starting to run short.

I was thinking though about the sharing of what we have written part - perhaps we can have a separate getogether for those who want to share their work. That way we don't intimidate those who do not by sharing out stuff while they are there, and we also have an excuse for yet another getogether..yay!

I'm happy to host a reading session if people would prefer somewhere private to air their writings (or go to someone else's place down in Adelaide if those who want to do this prefer), or we could chose somewhere like Gloria Jeans or the Bakery at Norwood - or somewhere completely different?

What do you think?

I am away this weekend and so won't be able to make it (was hoping for the following weekend but understand that that is just too far away ro celebrate!). It is our anniversary on 29th and always go away to a B&B for the weekend closest to it. So, whilst I am happy I get to go away and have fun relaxing, I am sad I will miss out on the post-Nano partying!

Having said that, I'm still going to put in my two-bobs worth. As someone who could not share her work but would love to hear others', I think your ideas sound great. A garden or park might be better so noise in a cafe doesn't mean the whole place has to shut up and listen or you have to shout. How about down by the Torrens in the pergola (sun shade) or perhaps in the East End parklands where there are heaps of trees, green grass and parking? Bring a plate is a good option, as is bring a blanket or a chair. I wish I was coming!

Have fun all, and keep on plugging away - no rest for the wicked until Friday night!

Readings...whooh whoooh whooh readings.....( cheesy electronicalistic music ).

Let's go !

( rumbling, like the proverbial. )

Maybe if we think about booking a function room ?

My place is in the middle of renovations, tilers and plumbers all over, otherwise I'd offer to host.
Hey.....howsabout outside in the parklands someplace ?

Or people can come along to Friendly Street next Tuesday night, and share four minutes worth.

Yep.

( tootling merrily " Ding dong the witch is dead " )

There is something being organised, although if people would rather a BBQ to the cafe, I'm open to it.

So far the decision has been to hold it on a Sunday at Caffe Buongiornos (Note the spelling if you need to look it up) on either the 2nd or the 9th. Christina and I are offering up the choice since the 2nd we may all be in post-nano reclusiveness. :-)
Does this location suit everyone?
I know that there is cheap parking (under $5 for the day), nearby.

So... The choice is either the 2nd or the 9th?

Unless everyone wants something completely different.

Red, you're more than welcome to organise a reading, I think it's a great idea.

I like the park idea as you are quite right, it is much quieter than a cafe. The problem could be the weather if we chose to have it on a weekend.

Avalanche's idea of a function room somewhere seems a little formal (but that could be just me), and of course function rooms don't usually come for free, do they?

I suppose the thing to do is ask for a hands up on a/ who wants to come and b/ where and when those who want to come want to have it.

What does everyone think/suggest?

I'm happy with venue and happy with either date. While a barbecue can be nice, they are also more work, so my preference is for a cafe as when celebrating I prefer to be able to spoil myself a little and let someone else cook and do the dishes!

I love Caffe B's as I get to reward myself with something yummy and a great coffee and the parking is a big win factor for me.
Am happy with gardens or parklands, bringing a plate to share, but agree weather is a major consideration.
Also agree function room might not be practical, but would offer quiet for readings... not entirely comfortable with that one, but am open to whatever is decided by the group.

I will however log a vote for the date - as you would have guessed from my earlier post, my preference is Sunday 9th as I am away this weekend. I don't care what time of day as long as I can sleep in a little that morning :)

Either date and either venue is good for us. I'm putting in a vote for the 9th though, in a show of support for Tabby being there.

Maybe have a read-in on the 15th or 16th? That'll give anyone who wants it a bit of extra time to polish a chapter or two.

Thanks Denise, but you guys do what you need to, don't worry about me - I am just one person in a whole bunch of Nano'ers! If I can come I defintely will, but I am the one who makes the plans for this particular weekend every year. My other half said next year we should go away the weekend after so I wouldn't miss out on Nano, but that just isn't right to me. Our anniversary is on the 29th, so that is when we go away. It's tradition. As it is, I won't be attending my girlfriend's engagement party on Saturday and yes, I am a bridesmaid and have therefore upset her entire extended family by not changing my plans and going!

Still, you made me smile Denise!

Tis cool.

I really am happy either way, and if most people want the 2nd then we'll still be there.

Well, the suggestion is, if the others make the TGIO on the 2nd, then why not have the read-in on the following weekend?

and, for the record, rather than hijack this thread, I'm going to start a new one just for the read-in and leave this one for its original purpose....:)
