At only about 10k words now (number not updated because I forgot to bring a copy of the novel with me) but I'm not giving up. By the time the month is over, I intend to have at least 15k words, and if I'm lucky and not so many fires come up for me to put out (metaphorically, not literally) perhaps I'll actually reach the 50k mark, only three or four weeks late. :(

I'm sure this happens to a lot of first-timers, but I still feel bad about it. I can't help if real life gets in the way, often and violently, when I'm trying to run a number of organizations and trying to keep two of them from disintegrating before my eyes. Still, I started the month with the goal of a 50k novel, and once again, by trying to juggle a number of competing, time consuming tasks, I've blown another.

BTW, one of those organizations did pretty much fall apart in the end anyway, so I lost a couple years off the end of my life with nothing to show for it. If I had known it would have done so back in October, perhaps then I would have achieved better numbers.

Anyone else with tales of hardship and regret at not making the magic numbers this year? I'd like to get to know better who I'll be drinking my sorrows away with at the party (just kidding, I don't drink much anyway).
