Thought I'd lend my congratulations to all the Saskatchewan writers who participated in this year's Nano, as well. This was my first year paticipating in the program and it was a dream. Thanks for providing the community I've been looking for as a writer for the past 20 years. You're collective effort motivated me to produce more fiction than I have ever attempted to produce and helped me finish the rough draft of a novel I have wanted to write since I was a teenager.
Wish I could participate in the TGIOP, but I live on the far east end of the province. Nevertheless, I look forward to participating next year and have already began promoting Nano to local schools and other writers I know.

Yup, this was a great month and it's so much fun to share with other people. I want to take a minute to promote Script Frenzy too. I took part in the first one in June and although I tried to get other people interested, it was no go. So, I did it alone and it was big fun. It's only 20,000 words. I wrote a stage play called Dinner with the Girls.
Some people I talked to were hung up on formatting but it was no big deal.
So, if you want a related challenge, I highly recommend Script Frenzy. I will be doing it again so you'll know at least one other person in Saskatchewan.

Hello, Everybody,
As the dust settles (or shall I say as the snow piles up) after our writing adventure, I have to say that it's been a joyful experience to go through nanowrimo for the second time. My first year, last year, was far more stressful, and a lot of what I was writing was filler because I thought it would be so hard to get to 50,000 words.
This year, I knew from experience that if you make an effort to get a few words down every day, you will succeed. And when you've missed days, it's good to know that you can easily catch up if you have a day or two relatively free of distractions. This increased confidence made me more thoughtful and deliberate about what I was writing. So I think this year's effort was much better, and that makes me excited for next year.
Another difference between the two years was that last year, because I was not as confident, I was relying on ideas that I had picked up from books, and my main characters were reading and picking up ideas from books. (I'm really into books myself! Surprise, surprise.) This year I extended myself to be more original, to see myself as a source of ideas. Being more genuine made this year's effort better.
I congratulate everybody who participated. I hope you are increasingly able to see yourself as a writer, or as a creative person, or as someone who will try anything at least once. These are expansive and wonderful ways to view ourselves.
