My name is Sian and this is my first NaNoWriMo. You should all know that I misuse the comma entirely too often and any abuse of the apostrophe makes me want to cry! I have no fabulous degree in literature or creative writing, but dammit I like to write anyway!

In all honesty, I'm slightly overwhelmed by everything and not entirely sure I can finish. My only saving grace is that 1667 words isn't really that much to write...if you do it every day. Of course knowing me I'll not write anything during the week and have to scramble to write 10000 words on the Saturday!! :P

hi ya'll,

(just dipped into a "southern" accent there for a bit, thought it might go well with the theme of "south of the river")...

Anita here, the Municipal Liaison girly for writers wishing to meet "South of the River" in Perth. I'm looking at securing a regular time/day at the Caffe Bookshop in Mill Point Road South Perth. Stay tuned as I'll post updates as soon as I've secured something.

Also, Elaine (NOR ML -- fancy acronym for "North of the River Municipal Liaison") and I are knocking ideas about for an all-in write-in at some stage (probably the midway point during the torture, errr I mean, fabulous NaNoWriMo Journey), so if you have any ideas for a venue / activity / theme, throw them in the bucket please.

Looks like the previous reply was lost in the server hiccup.

A write-in is where a group of people get together and type like mad. The good part is that when you get frustrated you can mull it over with another person who knows exactly what you are going through. The bad part is sometimes you'll be on a roll and then get distracted by someone else mulling it over. It all evens out and ends up being fun anyway.

I don't see why you couldn't bring a laptop, though you might want to pack an extension cord or a power board (or make sure it's fully charged).

Greetings to north of the river Perth people

Hi folks

Anita (South of the river ML) and I have sliced-and-diced the organising this year, and split Perth between us. I'll be wrangling write-ins and the usual meet-ups for people living north of the river, or really, for anyone who wants to come along. I'm not planning on changing anything in the way of venues, so unless someone has a really Good Idea, the pre-NaNo meet-up will be in Northbridge, and the write-ins will be in the city, for ease of public transport access.

At this point, I've not yet booked a NaNo retreat. Are people interested in a NaNo weekend retreat? The usual cost is between $80 to $100, including accommodation and food, at Fairbridge outside Pinjarra.
