50K!!!!

I did it! I reached 50K! I doubt that I will finish my actual story this week, but 50 000 words is all the matters right now!

I have been discouraged with the story itself all weekend. Maybe this will give me the feel good boost I need to keep going, whether it takes this week or longer to finish the book.

The current game plan is:

1) Go to Paperchase at 3pm.

2) Chill out and celebrate.

3) Pile our novels on top of each other and see how high it goes.

4) Sign a Thank You card for the Paperchase staff.

5) Decide where to go for dinner.

Dinner should be anywhere accessible downtown. It should naturally be someplace simple because obviously if we want to be writers, we're kind of poor.

Hey folks, I'm only going to do this once, don't worry.

If you haven't donated this year please consider doing what you can. I think we'd all agree that NaNo is an awesome thing to be involved in and worth, say, the price of a movie and popcorn at least!

I know there are lots of good reasons for folks who can't donate and there's no need to respond with them or feel badly. But I just wanted to remind those who can to do so.

Hope everyone's pushing 50k or already past...or if not, that you've made peace with your attempt for this year! ;-)

Sorry there haven't been more scheduled meetups this year and it's all my fault--or rather "real life" getting in the way. However, maybe we can get together on Saturday and discuss how things are going and what kind of a push we have to make next week to hit that 50K!

Excitement

I just had a revelation.

The past few days have been difficult. I was getting words down but I didn't feel like they were any good. Tonight I had to go back to an earlier chapter to check a detail I'd forgotten, and as I read the paragraph to find what I was looking for, I forgot my rule about not rereading anything until I finish. When I realized what I was doing, it hit me. I sat back in my chair, and all alone in my apartment, I said, out loud to no one in particular:
I really love my story!

My chest kind of tightened up and I had to blink away the tears that were burning my eyes.

It may sound melodramatic, but that's what happened. I'm totally excited now, and with that revelation came a burst of inspiration. Must go write!

Just thought I'd share :)

Word Wars on MSN

Okay, so, I'm on MSN a lot. I try to get online after I'm done for the day to get some writing done, and I try to get Tsuki-chan and Rostand to wordwar with me.

I was wondering if anybody's interested in a regular word war MSN chat group this year? I'm thinking of 9pm - 12am every night (at least try to go every night). Might be a fun way to get your word count up, if you're not terribly motivated to write for yourself.

Hello Bluenosers! I just passed the halfway mark this afternoon, and I'm pretty proud of myself. I was behind on the weekend, and now I'm ahead by a day. Thank goodness for holidays. How is everyone else doing?
Is anyone really pleased with the content of their novel? I don't think mine is something anyone else will want to read, but I really enjoy thinking about the characters myself. It might be boring, but I like it anyway. How are the rest of you feeling about your work?

Why hello fellow Nova Scotians!
The end of day two is quickly approaching and I'm just curious to see how everyone is feeling so far?
Are you keeping up with your daily quotas? Surpassing them? Taking a more leisurely approach?

I'm feeling good so far. 'Slow and steady wins the race' is my motto until i get a burst of inspiration and write like a maniac. Don't really know what I'm doing, but the words are hitting the page, so I can't complain.

I hope the coming storm doesn't knock power out for too long, if at all.

Word wars are short spans of times, ranging from 5 to twenty minutes, for concentrated writing. It's easier to accomplish than sitting at the computer for hours on end, and we generally count the number of words we've written in that short period of time. The person with the highest number wins the word war and we do it all over again.

Welcome to a brand new year of NaNo and welcome back to all previous participants! I'm the Halifax Municipal Liaison, my name offline is Jaymee, but it's really easier to type "Jha".

Just a friendly reminder to mosey on up to the Donation/Store tab when you get a chance and toss some financial support towards this most worthy venture. The Office of Letters and Light - the organization that runs this fantastic event every year - is a non-profit organization and relies on the support of its participants to run every year. They also do lots of cool charitable works with the funds raised.

I KNOW you like the stickers and other cool swag that the MLs hand out every year - your donations help make the distribution of the stickers and other oddities happen.

Donations start at $10, and given the absolute weenieness of the USD right now, you can't complain 'But that's like a GAZILLION dollars here!' Just laugh your best evil overlord laugh and shout 'Take THAT you puny USD, see what my $CDN can do NOW!'

Besides, when you see my shiny new halo and I come to the write-ins sporting the latest in Nanowrimo fashion gear, you know you're going to want one too

Hey everyone! Sorry to wait so long on this, but we've been having some issues booking the room that we used last year. But now we have everything set!

Kick-off

Week Three Wall Party / Write-a-thon

We're still working on a date and place for the TGIO, we're going to see how the Alumni Lounge works out for us. It's a new renovated room with comfy seating, lots of power outlets, and a big screen TV. For the Week Three Wall Party, writing is not required but of course we're not gong to stop you.

For both parties we would love for you to bring snacks for sharing and let us know ASAP if you have dietary needs or allergies that we should know about. Both your MLs are qualified in first aid and CPR, and we've both had our criminal record checks done. If anyone's parents / significant others were concerned.

Most of the events this year are in the Bloomfield Centre. Most of of university participants should know where this is (it's the SUB, guys). For those of you coming from out of town, it's the building that the bus stops at. The Alumni Lounge is on the fourth floor, the cafeteria on the second, there is a handy dandy information desk if you get lost. If you need more directions, PM or email one of us.

And finally, there is an information meeting to recruit new WriMos happening tomorrow (the 21st) at 2pm in the main lounge of the Bloomfield Centre. If you want to make it out for a bit of a reunion / pre-NaNo get together, we're totally not going to say no.
