Creative Meetup - Last one Before November!

Our last monthly Creative Meetup before November is coming up on October 8th! We will meet at the Barnes and Noble, Crestwood, from 3:30 to 8 p.m. Come and go as you like.

We will at least minimally discuss our write-in schedule for November, so if you have input, either Nano-mail me or come to the meetup!

Kick-off Party!

PLEASE POST YOUR AVAILABILITY. Help me plan!

Edited 10-06-08. We have a plan: the kick-off party will be October 25, 3-5 pm, at Kayak's (kayakscoffee.com, 276 N Skinker, 63130), on the corner of Skinker and Forest Park.

Please note that there is metered parking at the (small) parking lot off of Pershing, and they DO check, every day. You can either try street parking along Waterman (the street to the north of Pershing) or Pershing itself (though you'll have to turn onto Waterman and make a right onto Rosedale to get to the rest of one-way Pershing), or park across the street from Kayak's in the Washington University lot. They don't tend to check permits on the weekend, but I'll put a disclaimer here: if you're worried about a possible ticket, park on the street or feed the meter. There is also a Metrolink station (Skinker-Forest Park, on the Shrewsbury line) directly next to Kayak's, and a bus line or two that stop in front of the building. Utilize public transportation if you can--save gas and don't worry about parking!

We will give this place a try for the kick-off. If the pros of meeting there outweigh the cons, then we'll try it for the weekly meetings.

This is your chance to catch up with your NaNo friends from last year and meet new ones, pick up NaNo swag, chat about story ideas, contribute ideas to the Writer's Block Box, have a snack, knit, draw, whatever. We won't actually be writing at this meeting, of course ;)

If all things go to plan, there will be stickers to give out and friends to be made. So let me know your availability. Also start thinking up ideas for the writer's block box!

Weekly meeting days/times/places

Hey all...

I wish there was a way to post a poll on here for you guys to vote, because I'd like to see what your preferences are for the weekly meeting during November. I know it's a month away, but I'll have to call wherever we are to set up the meeting.

Previously we've met Sundays, 3-5 pm, at *a* Bread Co. Due to the fact that the Bread Co on Central in Clayton decided to change their Sunday hours, we moved to the BC on the Loop. But that location doesn't have many outlets and it's sometimes hard to get places to sit together.

So...

I would like to know when and where people are interested in meeting. We could change the day to Saturday, and I think we could keep the time at the Central Bread Co. We could move the time up an hour or two and meet Sundays at the Central Bread Co. We could move to a different locale, though I'm really fond of Bread Co's free wireless and darn good bagels. If we do pick another place, we should at least have free access to the Internet (which is why I'd like to avoid Borders and Barnes & Noble and the like, since they only have non-free broadband).

Tell me what works best for you! Tell me your favorite place to write. Tell me when you'd like to meet up with other crazy novelists. And tell me what weekend day you would like.

Caveat: The weekly meetings will still probably be somewhere close to where I live (CWE/U City/Clayton area). ML's perogative ;) Of course, if this is too far for you, you can set up your own meeting! That's what we have a calendar for.

Looks like we lost a couple of posts in the big server meltdown of Oct 1. From my email archives, it appears that the "Kick-off Party" thread and the "Word War" thread went away. Easy enough to repost those two, but did anyone else notice something that was missing? If so, repost!
