Welp, first off I have to say if you haven't already, you should totally listen to "Brave Men Run." It's a great audiobook, free online, and it's fantastic if you're interested in superpowered teenagers. I highly recommend it^_^
Second, I'm wondering how sucky you want things to be. Teenagers can be badly hurt by seemingly minor things. (I know.) A bad relationship, restrictive parents, low self-image coupled with bullying---all of these things can be really rotten.
If you wanna hit them a bit harder, there's always the good old "well, I decided to hang out with these guys who I thought liked me, but the slipped me some acid and I had a bad trip and freaked out and hurt myself and now my parents think I'm insane." route. There's also the parental abuse route--physical, sexual, emotional, etc.
Another good tack---teenagers with special needs siblings, particularly those who need a lot of extra care, often feel a strong urge to lash out. They might feel attention is stolen from them and try to get attention in negative ways, or feel that the burdens they have to take on for their family are robbing them of their youth. But when they lash out, especially if it's against their sibling, they can't help but feel rotten. After all, it isn't their sibling's fault. That's a nice "quiet desperation" angle.
Personally, I think with teenagers it's always best to go the public humiliation route. I always had a soft spot for "Carrie" as the perfect "teen humiliation/revenge" novel.
Any of that help?

Write a chapter or scene of each character experiencing their sucky lives. Help the reader to get a feel for just how sucky their lives are and help to feel for the characters themselves. You don't want to start writing without getting to know the characters. You know them, being the writer, inside and out. You know where you are going with this, I as a reader, do not.

If you don't come up with ideas soon, you could always dress them up as yellow chickens for the high school basketball team... FOX TROTTERS ... for the mascott to torment them during the games.
