From Tomilyn via facebook:
Our first meeting of the year is going to be Monday, October 6th, starting at 11am and running for an hour in Suzzallo espresso. I doubt that our business is going to take a whole hour, but this way those of you with class can drop in and give your input. Or if you can’t make it but still want to help, just shoot me an e-mail/facebook message and we can coordinate. If you also fear your ability to locate us in the chaos that is Suzzallo espresso, just drop me a line and I’ll send you my phone number.
A Wri-Mo success story: One of our old members, Chelsey Richardson has been nominated for the Poet Populist and wants your votes. Here is her message:
“I was just recently nominated for the Seattle Poet Populist had an email sent out to the English department, but I'm trying to get as many votes as I can. I figured you could send out another email for me to the nanoduck folks. You can check out http://www.poetpopulist.org, look out my work, and vote for me (Chelsey Richardson).”
Our publicity plan is to go into the creative writing classrooms, so if you can help be a representative for that (or for the new English majors orientation) contact me as well, it’d be great to have some help and it’s a pretty easy spiel.
Hope all your plotting is going well! I’ll send out an e-mail soon with dates and times of our write-ins, details about the kick-off event, and maybe even an October brainstorming meeting.

Hopefully I'll see you all on the 6th!

hey so rides:
to reiterate what I said at the meeting, I will be driving to the Bellevue Midnight Write-In on Halloween, and I have room for six-passengers. Two seats have been called at already. If you live in the U-district, the ilanabar hopes and dreams express is leaving at around 11 pm and coming back around 1:30 am.
See you then!

Hey ilanabar, if your carpool fills up and there's still a LOT of people who need a ride, then let me know - I have a van that will take 11 passengers. :P Or, if there's just a few extra people, my car will take 3 passengers, 4 if they don't mind close quarters.

Well since I can't take my scooter on highways, it is an hour and a half long trip for me to go around Lake Washington to get to there. If someone would be willing to take me via carpool, that would be great. Just give me a time and a place to be and appreciation will follow.

Hellooooooo Huskies! Those of you who were at the Monday meeting might remember me as the somewhat enthusiastic guy. :D
Anyway, dunno if I'll be available to join y'all for the kickoff, but we'll see. Kinda nice that all the BIG stuff for NaNo this year falls on weekends: the first, the midpoint, the end... I think that'll help things a lot.

Once again, from Tomilyn via facebook:
It was fantastic to see so many of you Monday at our planning meeting! We had record turnout, and that is going to help make this year even more awesome. It was also cool to see so many people attempting this for the first time (and second, and third, and fourth…). If you volunteered to go to Creative Writing classes please e-mail/facebook me back ASAP so I can get you all the info!
Hopefully we will see a lot of you at the plot doctoring meeting the 11th at the University Branch of Seattle Public Library, 11:30am. Also coming up is the kickoff party October 31st till we start off the noveling month of November). If you are going and need a ride, or have a ride to give people, please respond! Keeping that in mind, here is a list of events we’ve decided on.
Most of these events we haven’t finalized the exact location, but I’ll be sending out more details when I get them. We’ll have a write-in every Sunday, two pre-Thanksgiving stock-up write-ins (so you can get to what is really important in life: pumpkin pie), and two silent write-ins for those of you fearful of falling behind.
Sunday 2nd, 3:00pm: We will meet somewhere on the AVE for the first daytime write-in of the year.
Monday 3rd, 3:00pm: HUB room TBA
Thursday 6th, 10:30am: Silent Write-in, Suzzallo reading room
Sunday 9th, 3:00: We will meet somewhere on the AVE
Friday 14th, 2:30pm: HUB room TBA
Sunday 16th, 3:00pm: We will meet somewhere on the AVE
Thursday 21st, 1:30pm: Silent write-in, Law Library
Monday 24th, 3:30pm: HUB room TBA
Tuesday 25th, 5:00pm: Suzzallo Espresso
Sunday 30th: Start at your will, write to Midnight to finish it out!
Thank God Its Over Party: Crash Seattle's
See you on the 11th!
Tomilyn
(Ilana would also like to add that she has put in the request for the HUB rooms but doesn't know yet what room it is)

I can give you a ride. Where do you live? I will be starting the Ilanabar Hopes and Dreams Express at my apartment at 55th and 16th, so if you could scoot down there, that would probably be the easiest.

That would be swank of you. I live in Capitol Hill but I could scoot up to your apartment without any trouble. Is there decent street-side parking in the area for me?

hey so remember that nice long list of student ids that we got at the planning meeting? Yeah I lost it. If you go to UW, and want to help us regain our club status, please email me your name, student ID and UW net id (your email name) to ilana@dsbarnes.com.
I only need three!
thank you!

I just joined the Facebook group, and I'm down for getting to as many write-ins as possible over the month.
I am a Chemistry TA and grad student, so my schedule is kinda hairy, but I would love to hang out and write alongside y'all.

wow this quoting thing looks crazy!
anyway, stonebrakem, there is plenty of street parking. Most of the time it's 2-hour, but this time of night it isn't. So things are good. I live in the basement apartment at 5502 16th NE (the white fenced area). Show up at around 11pm. We will get back around 1:30 am. Any problems? call me (ilana) at 206 930 8986
see you then!

Certainly, Raksab! Please be sure to look at my earlier post about getting to my house. it will save me a lot of time if we all met up in front of it. The address is in that post. Hopefully you guys will be able to find me, as I am dressed up as Waldo for this Halloween!
And with your tush, the ilanabar hopes and dreams express is FULL!

Dear Duckies,
In one week you will start your novel. Or you’ll wait till one week and 29 days and then start panicking about not having started your novel. Either way, November is just around the corner, so here is a quick update of what is going on with our group.
Publicity: Your fellow UW WriMo James Brown has written about us in his blog that he is keeping for a journalism class. When James is famous I’m sure we will all feature in stories he writes for the NYTs, so visit his blog now.
http://seattlepaperweight.wordpress.com/
Also, if any of you want to be publicized to WriMos and it can be vaguely connected to our group or you’re just really successful and we want to brag, please let me know. OR if any of you can get us promoted (hint hint you Daily journalists), also do so.
Mistakes: Amazing Duck Morgan found an error of mine (she also spoke to her class for us!) and was kind enough to point it out. When I sent out my last e-mail detailing write-ins, I had a day and a number that did not match. The correct info is: Thursday the 21st, not Friday! An addendum, all HUB meetings are room HUB 110!
Halloween: We have no spots left on Ilana’s Hopes and Dreams Express. But we’ve had other volunteers of rides, so please let us know if you want to catch a ride to the kick-off party dressed as something really exciting. You can just reply to this message if interested.
Write-ins for week 1: Please put these in your planner, or an e-mail to arrive on the day so you have a reminder. Besides the kick-off party (mentioned above) we have a write-in on Sunday the 2nd at 2:00 at Café on the Ave. At fourish, we’re going to walk down to the Bricologe launch party. That’s right, our entire group has been invited to a party! And I think its at the cultural center, details will be reading by Sunday, just don’t wear your four inch heels. Once we are all there, then we can then argue about where to have the Sunday meeting next. On Monday the 3rd we’re all meeting in HUB 110, at 2:40ish. Thursday the 6th, 2:30, find us in the Reading Room in Suzzallo library. This is going to be a silent write-in, so if you’re getting behind already or just really want to get down to business stop by! And that’ll wrap up our first week, if you can’t make it right when the meeting starts, don’t worry. Just stop by, these should last at least two hours.
Introduce yourself: Go to Nanowrimo.org and go to the forums page (http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/3004959), if you’re affiliated with Seattle (super easy to do, and will make your word count towards the entire city word count so that Seattle will win the third time in a row, because we’re clearly the most literary city) and introduce yourself on the University of Washington thread. Or come talk on our Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=2229315870)! And if you have questions, just e-mail me at nanoduck@u.washington.edu.
In other exciting news, I have a plot!

My problem isn't no plot--it's too many plots, and they all suck! Maybe each chapter will be a random chapter from a different (as-of-yet) made-up novel, just so the reader has no idea what's going on...

I have a pretty decent plot going, but I have no clue how I'm going to get 50,000 words out of it. I'm thinking I have between 10k and 25k where it stands now. I guess that is part of the excitement.

Whereas my problem is so much plot I think I'd have to do a trilogy to fit it all in there... which I have nothing against, it's just this isn't NaTRIWriMo. :P We'll see how far I get. At any rate I don't think I'm at a loss for material, which is probably a good thing.

Hey guys! So... the midnight write-in? I know one car is already filled up, but is there anyone else driving there that I could possibly snag a ride with? I would shower you with eternal affection! I live in Lander but I can get anywhere in the U District that is near a bus stop.
Let me know!

The eternal affection should be directed at Soni- who still has a car and (you lucky duck) is leaving from Schmitz. Go over the to Dennys thread and claim a seat!

Hi everyone! I have no idea how I'm going to fit this in, but I really want to try it again. I can't make it to the kick-off party, but I'll try to get to the other meetings. (Although I spend most of my time on campus, I actually live in the middle of nowhere on the east side.) Is there a mailing list through the RSO I can join?

Hey guys! I'll post this on the Denny's thread and the UW Wrimos thread - the Soni Express has upgraded to a larger vehicle in response to more requests for rides. I will now be driving a huge, green 12-seater van, which is officially classified as bus, if one was to check the paperwork. (This behemoth is what I learned to drive with and also a major reason I did not get a license until I was 18! >_< On the positive side, I can drive practically anything of any size now.)
I believe that 5 seats are spoken for, which leaves 6 extra seats for last-minute attendees.
If anyone decides they want to come, I'll be at the south steps of Schmitz at 11pm! Let me know if there are anymore takers. Those who are coming and/or decide to come can call me at 425 328 9714 should something come up.
