Hey, everyone..
I'm fly, your friendly neighborhood zookeeper.. I mean, ML.
This is my fourth year in charge, and you haven't straightened up yet, so just... cause trouble when I'm not around to stop you. (HA!) Actually, you guys are awesome and I'm so lucky to have such a cool region!
I have a ton of stuff planned for this year, and there will be some kickass announcements popping up in the next few weeks.
If anyone needs me in a pinch - my cellphone number is 440.228.4741
As for my novel. I'm doing a story about two teenagers who meet in a chatroom and continue an online friendship while carrying on with their own lives. They finally meet after a decade.
Please introduce yourself and your novels!

Hi! I'm Julie/Gabrielle
I'm writing a novel about an heiress, a ghost horse, a couple million bucks, a gang lord, and a murder. This my first NaNao and a few days ago I finally convinced my sister, the lizard, to do NaNo with me. Yay! (hey, I'm only 16, I can still say that)

----------I'm babblebop aka Jen, and this is my first year, yay!
My story is a fanfic of The Castaways of the Flying Dutchman.... basically, Lexi is also an Eternal, yay! Ben needed a girlfriend.
Athens is really just a big typo. Y'see, "s" is right next to "a" on the keyboard. They meant to name it Athena, but the secretary wasn't a very good typist.

Welcome to the newbies!!
This is my third year to participate.
I've got so many novels-in-infancy started that I was totally stumped for an idea for this year's "master-pizza." So I went to one of those storyline generator sites and got one --- a fusion of the stories of Snow White and of Romeo and Juiliet. Plus, the Nashville NaNoites have been challenging one another to add a pirate element, so somehow I'll work that in.
I figure that this novel will be yet another bagatelle on my way to being some brilliant, fabulous writer (discovered after I'm dead, of course). ;oP
I have yet to go to any of the gatherings or write-ins, but I plan to do so this year. Looking forward to meeting y'all.
Blessings as you prepare to write. May October be a great prep month for us all... so that November is a faboo month of writing, writing, writing, coffee, more writing, chocolate, and lots more writing! =)

My name's Jessie. You can find me at Belmont University ;) It's my fourth year with NaNo, but my first in Nashville (I'm a freshie). I'm totally psyched to actually have write-in nights this year! The small-town Illinois community I'm from never had enough people to do stuff like that :)
My novel is probably outside a specified genre... basically, my main character finds the Garden of Eden and a hidden, God-sent button to "restart the universe." Old stars are reborn, pollution vanishes, dinosaurs reappear, and everybody on the earth is guilt-free. Totally absolved of past grievances. The powers-that-be convene to try to preserve this state of the world, but as little things start to go out of control again, their efforts must intensify, and somebody has to decide where to draw the line.
Wow, I like that description a lot better than the one on my profile page! Haha *copies and pastes*
Oh, also, I'm a journalism student, so I write a lot for my school newspaper and my classes. I'm thinking of doing a piece on NaNo N'ville [nano Belmont would be even better], so if anyone would be willing to do an interview (and it has to be on the phone or in person - sorry, teacher rule), just send me a private message!

Hello, all!
This is my fifth year doing NaNo, and I'm starting to get excited about this year. I started out the month not entirely sure what I was going to write about (which is rather unusual for me, since I generally start planning around January), but looking through several story ideas, my "modern-day retelling of Snow White" story jumped out at me. I've actually tried several variations of this story several times, but I think I've finally figured out the evil queen's motivations, so hopefully the rest of it will just fall into place.
Looking forward to all of the write-ins and what-not going on!

Hello Everybody!
My name is Erica and this is my second year doing NaNo. Most of my time is spent either at my apt or hanging around Meharry. Yeah, I know, absolutely show stopping, right? :P
My novel is kind of all over the place right now. It has war, pirates, adventure on the high seas. We will go with that for now until I find a better way to explain what is happening.
Can't wait to see all of you guys!

hey there everyone!
this will be my 5th year and i wasn't actually planning on participating at all, but thought "oh what the heck" I'll write SOMETHING every day in November, even if it's only 100 words, and at least contribute a little bit to the Regional Word Count and help beat whoever it is we're challenging this year. :-D
So, since i'm not really participating, i don't really have a plot or characters or anything resembling a Formal Plan. Informal Plan A is to use my very first NaNo plot that I ended up NOT using 5 years ago because I didn't want to "ruin" it (har!). if i decide that again, I'll fall back on Informal Plan B and totally wing it at midnight on November 1.... 0.0
good luck to everybody!

Hey everyone!
I'm Aimee, and technically not from Nashville...but it's totally close enough to count (Fairview)! I enjoy getting lost in the woods and watching Christmas movies three months early. This is my second year doing Nano, and I am seriously pumped about it. I'll actually be able to go to the write ins and fun event things this year, so it should be a lot more fun! :D
My novel is very lacking in the plot department, but it's LOADED with characters...without names. 0.0; I've got a bit of work to do before November comes around as I am the opposite of those seat-of-the-pants writers. It makes me nervous. As of now, I know that the novel is kind of about how the moon got here, and is narrated by the Man in the Moon. Aaaand...that's as far as it gets. I have lots of neat little characters that live on what will one day be the moon (maybe?) and there is a little girl involved....Oy. There is much to be done!

Hi!
I'm Amber/dream_weaver and this is my 8th year of NaNo. I'm no good at introductions. I graduated back in December and still work the same job I have since I started college. I work in a bakery. I'm 24. I have three cats. I often hang out on irc in the chat room on goodchatting server for #nanowrimo because I have no life.
This year I'm doing erotic fiction again. I have a plot kind of. I need to work out the details of it so I'll get back to you about what it's about later on. Right now I must eat my pizza and pet the cat.

Hi, I'm Carnivalofbunnies and I'm doing a prequel of last year's NaNovel. It occured to me that I was writing a book about the two most ordinary and boring characters in my story, so this year is an attempt to rectify it. Let's see, I'll have pirates, transsexual hookers, an albino Victorian noble, colonial Egypt, foggy London, stabbings, and brothels galore. Just good clean family fun!

Carnivalofbunnies -- Now, that's my idea of good, clean family fun! :)
I'm going to be starting a brand-new novel based on a story I wrote 6 years ago that recently popped back into my head. Right now, I'm working on an outline for it (a new approach for me), so hopefully that'll keep me on track.

ok so I'm Missy/pookaprincess and this is my 5th year I guess. I changed careers since last year and have NO idea how I'll fit nanoing into teaching. I wish I could move my fall break (two weeks starting tomorrow) to November. I do get 3 days at Thanksgiving, but...it's THANKSGIVING and I have a family and stuff. Anyway my novel (just picked my title today... Oaken Hearts) is a romance set in west TN around 1835. Loosely based on family history...yay. I know Antebellum is unusual for Romance....I've checked....but there is some and some of it is not bad. Dealing with slavery will be difficult to write, but will help part of my plot. Another ancestor who apparently was a successful riverboat gambler may turn in to a river pirate to fulfill the pirate challenge. we'll see.
happy plotting!

You can call me Carrie.
My novel is hard to explain really I'm kinda doing a story from the perspective on a funky looking antique table. I'll kinda go through three generations of a family with said table. So pretty much any conversation or antidote that happens at or is shared at a table.
Oh, yeah, I'm a major noob but I'm and HPFF Loony if you see the topic in the group section so I have extra experienced people to help me learn and I've been helping to plan some of the activities on that site.

That sounds really interesting, Carrie. I've tried doing stuff like that in the past, and it's always been difficult for me to link all the stories/incidents. Will you link them up in one big story, or write shorter vignettes in order and let them stand alone?

Linking them will be the hard part. What I'm thinking of doing is just writing the individual stories to start (to get that needed count) and see about links. I haven't officially decided whether I want to link them or not. I may not simply because events at a table are intermittent. I mean one conversation held at a table will not be picked back up at it at a later date. I think some events will flow one to another such as it is quite easy to select a day having a child play games on and around the table to be shooed away for a very serious conversation. Then a few slightly unrelated events may happen before the serious conversation from earlier comes to the table again. So yeah some of it might be connected but I'm certain there will be a few antidotes that could easily and fully stand alone.
(Gosh I hope all that made sense!)

Nina here.
Carrie, I think your table sounds intriguing.
I'm still rewriting my last year's novel. i wasn't going to do nano this year, but then I couldn't imagine not doing it, so here I am. This will be my fifth nano. I don't have a plot yet, but I have a goal, and that is to outline. I never do, so my writing always has good beginnings and endings, but the middle gets muddled.
One thing I do have is time. I got laid off yesterday, the second time this year. I didn't like this job much anyway, but the first one, I liked a lot and wanted to keep for years. But then the economy slowed way down, and people who make dessert for a living are disposable.
To the person who said you work in a bakery, are they hiring?

Thanks for the encouragement on the story I wasn't sold on the idea back in September but via some friendly encouragement and sitting on the idea I'm pretty excited about it! And I know being out of work sucks royal but at the same time possibly being free to write is kinda nice. Double edged sword there really.
I've got a job at current but have been off work for almost a month now due to a broken thumb. You can't really scan groceries with a broken thumb. :-( I should be back at work when November starts. I'm glad of the idea of getting a pay check once again and having more than nothing to do but my inner writer cries why couldn't this have happened in November when time is important?
Hope you get a job soon though, Nina!

Hi peoples, my name is Eric. Ths is my 2nd NaNo and hopefully I will actually win this year. :)
My story is going to be one of the following, help me pick it out!
1) A series of anecdotes about different MCs doing charitable/good works for friends or strangers. I will link all of the stories, probably about 10, by making the MCs somehow related to one another through the generations. The stories will work backward through time eventually leading back to the Bible story about the 4 men lowering their friend through the roof to see Christ, told from the perspective of one of the men (the patriarch of the rest of the characters, as we come to find out).
OR
2) An allegory for Christian spiritual warfare set in medieval fantasy. The loyal followers of a deposed king are persecuted for the political stance as they wait for the triumphant return of the king. This is actually (at least) Book 2 of a series I have in my head, but I am not quite ready to work on the 1st book. That's all I can think of at the moment :)

Eric! Both sound really amazing! I love the idea of traveling back a little at a time though each MC. Very interesting idea and to read the story of lowering the friend to Jesus from that perspective is way cool.
And your second idea totally rocks my socks! I am so into literature of that nature like you wouldn't believe! It sounds awesome!
I know I haven't helped much after praising both idea but a friends of mine who has done this for the past 4-5 years said that its sort of best not write something you are extremely passionate about simply because your inner editor will have a field day. This is not to say you are doomed if you are passionate about both but I would suggest the one that you feel you can most easily write yet don't feel like everything is riding on it. If you know what I mean.
I look forward to knowing which one you end up picking!
