Hi all.

A group of writers and I typically meet once a week at the Panera in Dublin across from Target, now on Wednesday nights from 6:30-9:00pm (or whenever they kick us out, or turn the AC to freeze).

We're welcome to anyone wanting to sit, chat, write, and come for mutual support and/or compete for word counts :)

We meet at the Panera Bread in Dublin by the Target:
7030 Amador Plaza Rd
Dublin, CA 94568

Hope to see you there!

I'm a newbie, I tried NaNo a few years a ago and quickly ran out of gas due to lack of preperation. I'm going to try to make it to one of these write-ins in Dublin, but I work in San Francisco, and get out late, so I might just be there for the last hour.

You're definitely welcome to join us at Panera's! Right now several of us are prepping for this year's Nano, so you might want to come if you want some support during the planning stage too.

During November, we'll be hosting write-ins at other locations as well. Several of the ones we used last year had much later closing times (i.e. Borders, which now has wi-fi), so you could come on a night with a later end time if that works better for you.

Hi,

I'm a Newbie, too. I'm in Tracy, though, so I don't know if I can count myself as an East Bay Newbie. I'd enjoy being part of a group, but most out my way appear to be farther than a quick trip over the hill. Besides, I'm more familiar with the Livermore/Dublin/Pleasanton area.

The idea of a bit of prep sounds great! How would you feel about a Tracy-ite joining your ranks?

No! You're not allowed! j/k

We'd love to meet you :-D Come by and come often-- the more the merrier! And the more we have, the better our chances at nabbing the big, gigantic table at Panera, and perhaps eventually the entire restaurant...

...and the world, though the last might have to wait a while.

Hello, I'm new at this, also. Are there any meetings in the Oakland, Walnut Creek, Concord areas? And where do l look for these? Your meetings sound so active and fun. Sorry I'm too far away at this point in time to join the group.

Hello!

There's a thread below this one for Concord area write-ins. I don't know if they've scheduled anything yet:

http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/3272531

Also, you're fairly close to our ongoing Hayward write-ins which go on monthly throughout the year, and weekly during November:

http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/3263890

In Hayward, we meet on Mondays (during November, and a mutually agreed upon Monday during the rest of the year) at Panera Bread right by Southland Mall just off the Winton exit on 880. The exact address, times and location are in the thread above. We're meeting tomorrow, actually, if you'd like to come :-)

There is a group in Oakland planning to meet during November as well. Once I'm notified of planned meeting times/dates/locations, they'll be posted on the East Bay calendar, which should be visible to all of you. In addition, keep an eye on posts made in this forum for any other writers in your area. If you have a good location in mind, feel free to suggest it to other writers! Qualities that we tend to look for in locations for write-ins include:
- Access to power (for laptop users)
- Food and caffeine availability
- Wi-fi
- Comfy seats/Ability to take over several seats in an area for a while without getting glares from other patrons or waiters/waitresses

All aren't necessary, but it helps to mention which qualities the location you suggest possesses.

I'm not going to be able to make the first two Wednesdays at Panera, but if anyone wants to meet me at the Pleasanton Peet's on Tuesday or Thursday afternoon (11/3 or 11/5), I'll be the tall girl with glasses and a black MacBook.

Thanks for the info!

I'm out in Tracy also, and will try to make it to one of the meetings! (Bemused, we could always try to get together out closer to home if you're available!)

You could also come to downtown Livermore on Tuesday nights around 6:30 at Panama Bay. I'm going to be hosting a write-in there... not sure how many will come, but I'll be holding the fort there and writing.

I might be heading out for this! Going to go to the San Ramon write-in on Tuesdays and maybe I can head to these on Wednesdays to keep myself motivated!

I'd love to go to Livermore, but the husband is away on business this week (CPS doesn't like it when you leave 3-year-olds home alone) and my father is visiting next week. Not much opportunity for evenings to myself until after the 15th, I'm afraid.

Hope to see you all sometime, somewhere!

I will join you at Panera in Dublin tonight. This is my second run but the first with a local group. Looking forward to meeting you all. I'll have a hot pink scarf and a white Mac book.

Ouch! Rough week, but I'm plugging along to catch up this weekend. I didn't factor in the First-week-of-Nano head cold. Ugh.
I'll try to make it out there on Wednesday, but that might be rough. I think there's a Thursday write-in at Borders in Pleasanton. That might be my best bet.

Overall, for anyone watching my sad, stagnant word count (and for myself!) I wanted to say I'm back on track (or at least not contagious) and ready for a write-in. I hope I'll be seeing you all soon!

I hope you guys will have a sign up declaring yourself NaNo people - I'll likely be there around 7 or 7:30 and stay through the end.

Hi All, I just wanted to check and see if the Panama Bay Coffee write in in Livermore on Tuesday nights is still happening. I was way ahead, okay probably just a little bit ahead. Then I went to Reno for my birthday, had the most fabulous trip ever and haven't written more than a hundred words in the last week or so until tonight. I think I need some positive encouragement or some good old fashioned peer pressure. If anyone is planning to be there tomorrow let me know what time and I'll try and get there after work. Thanks, Bridget

I'm planning to go tomorrow. I should be there around 7:00/7:30. I think Norsehound is usually there at 6:30 and saves a table for whoever else shows up.

I'll be there between 6:30 and 7PM. I think Norsehound's there even earlier than 6:30-- 6PM, I think. We meet at the big table that doesn't feel so big anymore with everyone out in full force ;-)

Well, I'm right here (Panama Bay) Right now (7:03), and I'm sitting at the square table near the front of the shop. I've got a black laptop with the sticker on it.

So far I'm the only one here...

The poster is talking about the Livermore write-in. I gather since it's 7pm and you're not at Panama Bay, you're not coming to the livermore one are you?
