I hear you. My hands are starting to sweat. Or maybe I've had too much coffee. I really don't have a plot just yet. Have been thinking about three different ones > one would be the first (and last perhaps) in a mystery series/amateur sleuth, another in the lit fic category, I guess. And, since I live with two golden retrievers who provide a story a day, I think about animal stories. Any warming up I'm doing is all in my head at this point, since I continue to blink first facing down the blank page. Feels like I don't even have an opener at this point. Glad to see the EVal group Stackpole workshop on the 15th. I'll be there! Good luck everybody, and I'd love to hear from other Eval people.

I know what you mean. This is my first year. (I considered doing it last year, but due to a busy schedule and a kind of strict editing schedule, I decided not to.) I kind of have plot. I'm trying to decide between two different ones. I'm getting so nervous. Let's see, things to get before November, caffeine, chocolate, more caffeine, plot, characters... There's so much to do before November! I'm excited, but I am also so nervous.

Just got accepted to present at Teatro Caliente, so I guess I'll be tightening up my script. Talking to a couple of transplants, I said, believe it or not, Phoenix wasn't always as cool out as it is now. They chimed in as a chorus, "I believe it. Phoenix wasn't cool until They got her.

Going to be my first year giving this a try. I have my overall story decided on, just need to decide on which of several different ways for the plot to play out. I've come up with a number of possibilities, but can't use them all. blah

I'm in, too, and counting the days. Don't know what I'll write yet, but it'll come to me. It's my first year as a member of the Phoenix, AZ region. I just moved from Baltimore, MD, and I'm looking forward to participating with this group. -- Olivia

Writing is a solitary job–but there's nothing lonely about it. I have always been too immersed in what I was doing, mad at it or laughing at it to wonder whether I was lonely or not, it’s simply solitary –Wm. Faulkner

Whew, from Baltimore, wow. That's quite the change.

Back in Phoenix since my first year of NaNo. As for whether or not I'm ready.... That's what October is for. Hahah. I've got my bare bones, my main characters, and several minor characters. I just need to get everything else ready.

I'm ready! Well, not really, but my mind keeps thinking that XD I'm working on rereading my 'No Plot? No Problem!' book and I might try an outline this month. My plot? Who knows! I don't even have a character list yet. But I wanna NaNo XD I have some new writing techniques I hope to put into motion! I might even try coffee this month.

I was here last year, but I didn't post much. I'm gonna try to come to at least one of the writing get togethers this time around ^_^

Over the last year, I've been playing with short scenes and character sketches for a story line I'm calling "The Agency" and since those characters have been floating around my brain so much lately, I took it as a sign that I'm supposed to run with that story for NaNo. Its a supernatural urban-fantasy type of thing. I have a few characters in my head and I'm going to be using the rest of this month to plan out a few more, come up with a rough and vague plot outline, and do some background research (hopefully the research will help to spark some additional plot ideas). I have characters and a "world" but I have no idea what the main conflict/problem will be yet. And this year, I'm going to be completely AR and plan out an actual writing schedule, since I sort of lost steam and discipline the second half of the month last year.

Heh... I am ready... I think.

Looking forward to seeing you all at write-ins... Although sadly not the opening. Since it starts Halloween night, I am always busy with my kid, and parties and stuff... but I will be starting when all of that is over.

Later and Luck!

Cool to see all the replies. Hope I can soak up some creativity. I see all this talk of plots and characters...I'm in preparation/avoidance mode whereby I'm using nano as an excuse to buy all kinds of aids (toys) and doing a guerilla remodel on an unused space for my "author's retreat" (office).

Hello everyone! This is my second year, but I didn't get too involved with the regional stuff last year. I'm going to try to change that this year. I'm not sure how many events I'll get to attend, but the least I can do is post in the forum. I'm looking forward to November with a decent (I hope) plot in mind. Meanwhile, I'm warming up for a month of writing by working on last year's novel, finishing and polishing it up a little. I won the challenge last year and reached 50,000 words, but I didn't finish the whole story. I haven't abandoned it, though, so that's a good thing.

I'm looking forward to meeting and getting to know some of you this year. Happy Writing!

Gee... umm... and I don't even have a character name to start with! Or even which POV I'll go with, or for that matter anything other than a genre. Yup... same as before... Post-Apoc.

Can't make the kick-off... got a couple things to do... won't make the Halloween thing either... got to be somewhere else that night.... BUT I'm gonna see what I can do about making an ACTUAL start, rather than yet another false start, like the last two years... lol

Genre? Can I choose more than one? How about this year we call it what it really is: Post-Apocalypse/Fantasy/Romance/Literary Fiction.
