Just wondering what activity there is in Blacksburg (ie, Virginia Tech and the surrounding area) I'm actually a local (though I went to school here) and a second time Nanowrimo participent, and this year I'm trying my best to get others involved. I figure there's plenty of students in the area with just not quite enough time, as well as other locals like me.

Anyone else from this area already involved?

Another Blacksburg resident here. This'll be my third year participating in NaNoWriMo, and my first as a Hokie. I'm a local as well, having lived in Blacksburg most of my life.

Dublinite reporting in - unless a Radford or Pulaski County group pops up out of nowhere, Blacksburg's my best option to meet with other Nano people. This is my 2nd year writing, and (so far) I'm managing to plan a little better than last year.

Hey, this is my second year doing it. I've lived in B-burg for most of my life, and going to Radford this year. I'm definitely trying to be more involved with the forums, and I'm hoping I can still find all the time between college work to do this.

Yeah, fitting in writing time around college work this year is going to be interesting. Push come to shove, I'm going to work on it between classes. Might as well put that hour of sitting around to good use, after all.

First timer, here. I'm local to Blacksburg, now. I suppose I can say that after being here 17 years.

I say that after being here less than a year...but buying property with the intent to live in it and all...

Anyway! Nice to meet you all!

Another Dubliner, here, with Blacksburg just a blink away. Good luck to everyone here this November!

Hey all, a Hokie checking in. 5th year senior, 1st timer in NaNo. We'll see how it goes, spent many years role-playing in text-based rpgs, so I know I can put out a few k of words a day, just a question of whether I can sustain it or not. We'll see how it all goes.

I'm about the least "local" you can be! Just moved here about a week ago (though I've visited frequently in the past, sister is a VT alumna and boyfriend is currently attending). Thought about doing Nano in past years, but now with more time than ever on my hands, I think I can do it. Especially with one non-Nano novel under my belt to date! (say that 5 times fast).

Would any of you guys be interested in a meet up sometime? Not necessarily a kick off party, but we could do that if there was interest. Or perhaps meet ups during NaNoWriMo, during which we could talk about how our writing was going and help each other along if anyone was stuck, that sort of thing?

I've personally enjoyed what meet ups I've been to in the past, but most of those were in Roanoke. Still, I'd like to meet other Wrimos in the area.

Just another Blacksburger chiming in. This is the first time I've attempted this. I'm a first year grad student at Radford, so I really don't know how I'll have time to do it, but one of my dreams is being a successful novelist, so I've got to start sometime.

I'd be interested in meeting up at some point, time permitting of course. A kick-off gathering or even pre-writing would be sweet, though, once again, my time is extremely limited.

My roommate and I are going to do Nanowrimo this year and we'd love to do meetups in the area. ^__^

Been living in the Burg for just over five years now.
Pretty excited to find fellow Blacksburgians that do this (this is my first year)

I've set up a little write in for my friends at a local game store called Fun n Games on Main street. Right across from the Alumni Mall (Virginia Tech fame, in case you don't know.) every Wednesday during November from 7-9pm. Right now only really expecting my husband and two other friends, but if anyone feels like stopping by, you're more than welcome.

If anyone else is setting up any other events though, I'd love to try and attend.

I might swing by this week; it just depends on how much studying I think I need to do for my test the next day.

I'll try to swing by too. :) Not sure my roommate is going to, but she may come in the future.

I'd also be open to other meet-ups on other days. :)

Well, turns out I'll be traveling a lot this month, but hopefully I can make it at least once!
