Is everybody up for the write-ins on Saturdays at the City Library again? We've been doing this since before I was ML and I just wondered if anyone had any other ideas. Any good coffee shops that would tolerate us and provide enough electrical outlets maybe?

Damn. I still don't have a working laptop, which means I'm not likely to vote for write-ins ... I also don't know about coffee shops, and I like the library.
Why? Are they no longer tolerating us?

You wouldn't be the only person to bring paper and pen/pencil to a write-in.

Sugarhouse Coffee? Dropped by to scout it out for Sugar House Writers and it looked very good.

There's Coffee Connection in South Salt Lake on State Street.

I would also be up to going to the library.

Nope, and I did it for Screnzy. ('Course, I also work nights and weekends, which means my time for write-ins is limited to Saturday mornings (and weekday days), but whatever.)
Well, then, my vote is for somewhere near TRAX. If not TRAX, then at least a bus. I don't have a car, so the write-ins really needs to be accessible by public transit.

Hello! I'm really looking forward to this and would love to participate in a write-in with some veterans. My favorite coffee shop is Cafe Marmalade (in the pride center on 3rd West) it's also near a trax station. I also use trax to get around, but I can always bike. The Coffee Connection has really awesome couches though...

Sugarhouse Coffee is great, I just don't know about their outlets... Did you check for them?

Seconding the vote for areas near public transit, though now that my roommate has a car, I suppose I can always wrangle her into coming along.

What times are good for people? Saturdays (going by the subject line) are fine by me, but not until after 4:30 as I have work in the early afternoon. Anyone else wanting to do an evening get-together?

I vote either Sugarhouse Coffee or the library, either seem to be awesome locations.

In previous years, our "regular" write-ins were Saturday from 1-4 or 2-5, I forget. It was however it fit into the City Library schedule. Last year, we also tried at the CWC, but they're having a class on how to write for NaNoWriMo at our usual write-in time, so we wouldn't get the back room. (Why do they teach during November? They should do it in October so people can just write in November.)

I will try to check out some of these places, but I'll probably also reserve the City Library, just to make sure we have it as a back-up.

Saturday in the City Library would be great for me, and pretty much any time!
I've never attended a write in before even though this is my 3rd year doing NaNo, so I'm really excited!

I work on Saturdays at varying times after 4. I'll attempt to mold my schedule around whatever is planned.

My Saturdays are free of basically anything, so heck maybe I'll try making a write-in at the library. I'll just have to figure out a time to go. I tend to rise sorta late, though I'm not sure how much an issue that'll be with a bunch of insane people who've decided to write a 50,000 word novel in a month. . .

I can't make Saturdays, but Sundays are better for me. I have already booked Sprague Library in Sugar House for Sundays between 3pm to 5pm. It's located in the same parking lot as the Barnes & Noble (2100 S 1100 E) between Men's Wearhouse & Panda Express. For those who can't go to the Saturday write-ins, you're welcome to go meet up in the meeting room on the bottom floor of the library near the nonfiction section.

Saturday write-ins make me all tingly with glee. I vote library, personally, tho Sugarhouse Coffee also works just fine. I can't think of any other hip little joints that have plenty of outlets and space - you folks tend to take up a lot of it.

Every Sunday? Interferes with my religion (NFL), but I'll try to get down to one or more. Can't wait for the meeting that will overlap with the Utah Ukulele Users.

PS. Never been able to get the WiFi to work there. Maybe someone can show me how.

Hey everyone.
I really enjoy the downtown library. There is tons of space and good chairs and tables and outlets.
I ALSO agree with Simone that Marmalade would be a good place to go. I know the owner and will double check if she and the staff are ok with us coming in mass and doing some writing. They are very artistic/creative people. I really think they would be fascinated by it and be willing to help. But I would love to participate in write ins for all the veteran help I can get.
Can't wait to see you guys at write ins!!!

Looks like City Library was booked early this year and isn't going to work out well. So I'll do my best to scout coffee shops this week for our Saturday write-ins. Don't forget we've got Sunday write-ins scheduled at Sprague Library thanks to lostfairytales.

I would like to try one of the write-ins but I'd rather gather in Draper or Sandy. Anyone want to join me down here whenever we can? My schedule is varied so I can't commit to a particular day of the week every week.

cassiopeia,

I live in Sandy too and would be more than willing to meet around here. I work Tues-Fri 6:00 am to 2:30 and Sat 4:00 am to 12:30 and have Sun and Mon off. Let me know what times would work best for you.

I live in Midvale and am pretty close to Sandy, so I'd be happy to join you guys for a Sandy write in :)

OK, it looks like I can't do the first Saturday of November anyway for other commitments that have to take precedence over NaNo. Still haven't had a chance to scout coffee shops, so I may just pick one that was mentioned and hope for the best for the second Saturday. Sorry guys, just really busy this year.

The last two Saturdays, we do have a room at the City Library, so I guess we're using it.

I'll try to make it to some of the write-ins at Sprague on Sundays.

Sandy write-ins sound like a good idea too. Years back, we used to meet at the Barnes & Noble in Sandy, which I understand is reasonably near Trax. Just be careful with the noise level. Apparently sound travels all the way across the store from the s/eating area and we were warned one year when we got a bit rowdy.

For those in the Sandy and Draper area, Please send me a private message with your email so we can plan to gather and figure out where. Barnes and Noble is a good place and I'm sure we know how to behave. :) For the most part and if that fails I have a large home in which to gather as well.

OK, y'all, I expect a lot of you are late from the snow. I'm a little late leaving and I have a 20+ minute drive downtown, but I should be there by 2:15-ish. If you see this message...
