Any Sims fans?

I am really looking forward to the sims 3 world adventures in november. I am planning to set a word count goal, and when I hit it, and the game comes out, I will buy it. also am excited because the game is right up the alley of what I am writing, which has elements of archological thriller written all over it.

Oh no, ANOTHER addictive Sims 3 addition?! X) That one will have to wait until *after* November for me, I think; I'll NEVER get any writing done otherwise... Especially if I have to contend with the temptations of World of Warcraft and Spore at the same time, which unlike Sims I can *almost* maybepossibly pass off as "story world research." Tsk tsk.

I do love Sims 3, though. And still have Sims 1 on my aging laptop here, too, to boot, haha. Tormenting, I mean, uh, carefully nurturing virtual people is fun. (Although, when's 3 getting pets?)

Current Sims 2 player checking in! I'm not done with the Sims 2 (I'm a hack/custom content kinda girl) so I'm waiting to get the Sims 3 ^_^. I'll probably give up playing the Sims during November though...exams and novel writing won't leave me much time to sim, I don't think D:.

Sims 2 player here! I'm still working on my legacy, so I won't be playing sims 3 until I'm done. Which will probably be never. So far, from what I've seen, I prefer sims 2. :)

Sims 3 player! It's pretty sad that I got my computer back about MAYBE 3 weeks ago, and already I'm working with 4th generation of the family I started when I got my baby back!

Also, a evil parent is fun to play with! I've already had the mother steal candy from her own child twice, and he was JUST born!

Sims 2 player right here. I wish my computer were powerful enough to run 3 because I love the openness of the world. My current obsession in game right now is a town I'm building based on faerie tales, fantasy, and fables. I work on the buildings for a little while and when I get bored with that I work on my sims to put in the town. I haven't actually started playing any of the houses yet because I want to try and keep all the houses on the same time scale, but I'm having a ton of fun just setting the town up.

Sims 2 and 3 player here. I still love my Sims 2, but I'm fond of the Sims 3 personality traits because they make things that much more unpredictable. I often use my Sims games to model characters and scenes from my writing. Sometimes it helps to make a visual representation of a character or a house, etc.

Sims 2 player here! I can't wait to play 3, but I'm making due. I like that idea of using it model characters! I'm still stuck about what to write about this year, so I may try that!

Sims 2 here! I'm on the third or fourth generation of a couple of the families after taking a break for a little while.

Um, odd question here, but has anyone had an arson happen in Sims 2? Here's what happened:

Sim X cheated on his wife with NPC Sim T. Then he made the mistake of flirting with another sim in front of T. That night, T comes over and lights his barbecue on fire, then, when he does that automatic "Fire!" response and runs over, she blocked him from leaving. Once X is suitably on fire, T leaves with a string of fire following behind her.

X is now dead, and I'm very confused at this Sim-arson and Sim-homicide. I'm not running with any mods or cheats, so is this normal, or are my Sims just that warped?

More on-topic, I'd rather get the rest of the packs for 2 than switch to 3. I like the openness and randomness 3 promises, but I do want a little more control over everything that happens.

Sims 2! I got a new computer in January and, between the full-time job and the fact that I have too much fun making new families and houses, I haven't gotten any of my families past the first generation yet. Last year I made Sims for my NaNo (and made cover art from pictures of them), and this year I was going to, except I kept changing my mind about what I was going to write so now I've got neighborhoods for two stories I'm NOT writing this November (that I had intended to; I've got a few others for unrelated stories) but not one for the one I'm actually writing. It's harder than you'd think trying to make realistic Sims and houses for high fantasy - they keep needing to have things like refrigerators and telephones that sort of ruin the ambiance.

Hooray! This is really a thread I can relate to. =D

I'm a lifelong simmer here, been playing since the Sims 1, and I guess technically even earlier with classic Sim City and such. These days I play the Sims 2 about twice a month, and in earlier days when I had time I did a lot of sims writing. I've had a successful story on the exchange from time to time, until "real life" gobbled up my free time and money. ;)

Hello, I'm a Sims 2 player. I have invested too much in Sims 2 and I like my towns too much to change to the new game.

I have been thinking about writing stories about characters in the game and I have also made up some Sim philosophy and they have complex political and economical systems. I take the world literary with other laws of nature than our world. But hey! I do have written some things, mostly news articles from my towns. I try to write one page of news articles about events in the neighbourhood for every simday that passes in the neighbourhood.

Is there anyone that will write their nano about characters in Sims with the Sims world as the setting? I mean explicitly, not using Sims as a model for something else. Or have you done it in a previous year?

I haven't, but that's kindof an awesome idea, really.

No...BUT! An evil and addictive Sims play idea I got from a friend (who was No Understandy on NaNoWriMo last year, plans to show up this year but is currently occupied) was to make a number of characters from my previous stories into Sims and put them all in a town together. It is sickly fascinating. :3

I've been hanging around on the forums for days and didn't even know this thread was here. XD

I'm a Sims 2 player with no intention of switching to Sims 3. I have my favourite neighbourhood set up just the way I like it - completely full of Anime characters (both as playables and townies) because I am a sucker for crossovers. ^_^'

I don't think that kind of thing will be possible with TS3, so it's TS2 all the way!

I'm a Sims 2 player/addict/loyalist really. I just bought a copy of the Sims 3 (EA was having a one day sale) but when I tried it out I really didn't like it since it feels too much like Sims 2 for the PS2. Maybe it's because I tried it out on my laptop, which is a Mac, however I really don't feel like carving out the time to try it on my PC desktop anytime before December.

Sims 3 player here! Actually I play Sims 2 and Sims 3 but Sims 2 is on the computer my brother stole from me. My laptop (to the surprise of EVERYONE) plays Sims 3. I've been addicted since Sims 1.

I'm a The Sims 2 junkie. I bought The Sims 1 soon after it came out, played it and a couple of expansions for about a year, and then didn't touch The Sims until several expansions for Sims 2 had come out. I was bored one day and decided to buy it. Three years, a new CD-ROM drive, and a RAM upgrade later, I'm still pretty obsessed. I have no plans on ever switching to TS3. I've spent too much time, money, frustration into getting TS2 playable. And I'm way too attached to my legacy to abandon them. Haha.

So, has anyone else made a sims-version of any of their novel's characters?

I am a huge sims 3 addict.
I go for a few days or weeks not even thinking about it, but then I get the urge to play it again and I'll play it every day for hours, until I realize it's almost 2am.
I'm surprised I haven't gotten sick of it yet.

I play Sims 2. :) I've tried Sims 3 a few times, but I hated it. I can't stand the Sims, and if I don't like the characters I'm playing it makes the whole thing pointless.

I've even written a few Sims stories. I don't use the game characters, though, but my own, so they're more like illustrated stories than fan fiction.

I've been playing 3 almost obsessively lately, but I also really like 2. I've thought about the idea of using the sims to plan characters and the town, but have never gotten around to trying it. It sounds like a cool idea though.

Sims 2 and 3 fan here. I've been playing since Sims 1 and I've loved every bit of it. I prefer 2 over 3, it's a lot more flexible and there's a lot more things to download. Besides, I don't think Sims 3 is challenging enough, I've played for a few months and I've nearly gotten all the prizes and collectables.

I'm definately an addict and have been of all three for, well, over half of my life now. I got TS3 for my birthday and that was all I asked for. I do prefer TS2, though, and I used Veronaville to sim all of my characters. Let's just say that if my novel was what happened in The Sims, it would be like a soap opera. xD

I'm really disappointed with the sims 3. I've been a hardcore simmer since I was about six. I'm fifteen now. XD I, sadly, uninstalled all my sims 2 games. However if I get a laptop for Christmas, I'll be using up my space for that along with the sims 3. xD

Hello! I've played all the versions of the Sims and I have to say Sims 2 is still my favorite. Sims 3 just hasn't hooked me like I thought it would. I love the living neighborhood, but having people aging in houses I'm not playing is really annoying me, and turning aging off just didn't help. I'm going to get World Adventures for Christmas probably just to see if it adds anything that sucks me in like Sims 2 did. I will say am I looking forward to the world building tool that's supposed to be coming out--building my own neighborhood from scratch is one of the things I love most about TS2 and another thing I haven't been able to do with TS3 that annoys me.
