...Or Port Arthur? Nederland? I'll even take Port Neches and Orange! Seriously, I was just wondering if I'm the only person in Southeast Texas crazy enough to think about doing this. I almost did it last year, but I was out of town for the first week of November so I didn't. So I guess technically I'm a newbie and the Writing Buddies tab on my profile page is depressingly empty since I have no writer friends. That won't stop me, but it would be nice to compare myself to someone else's word count since I'm fiercely competitive and that might motivate me! At any rate, if there's anybody out there, please come say hi!

Not in Beaumont, but in Lufkin. That close enough for you?

Nederland here. I grew up in Beaumont, but moved to Nederland when I got married in June. I'm mainly a screenwriter, but I've always wanted to write a book, so here I am. If you're looking for more writers in the area, look up the Golden Triangle Writer's Guild. They meet the second Tuesday of every month at 7PM at Barnes & Noble. No meeting this month though. This month they're having a writer's conference. Oct. 22-24. That Friday I'll be running a one hour panel of screenwriting.

I'm working out of Kountze right now and will be moving to Montana mid-month, but for now I can count for Beaumont.

I am in Beaumont and would be down for meeting up once a week in November. Monday nights or Thursday nights generally work well for me--we could meet at Barnes and Noble or Sertinos. This is my first year participating but I am very excited and I would love to meet fellow writers in the area! Please let me know if you guys would like to arrange a meetup and I will gladly go about arranging it.

And does anyone know how to form an actual group for Beaumont to be listed as it's own region? I'd like to create a Beaumont/Southeast Texas region in the forums.

omg Beaumont people! I'm in Vidor, but you know we gotta go to Beaumont for everything anyway. I'm a newbie to this, too. XD But so awesome to find people from the area! SE Texas totally needs it's own section.

I also meant to reply to this- that sounds like fun, though I have class up at Lamar in the mornings then work til 6 Mon and 7 Thurs. ;/ I forget where Sertinos is, though. Is that the place over by Best Buy? (well not by, but in the same little area- just on the opposite end)

http://www.sertinosbeaumont.com/

That is the link for sertino's. It's a cafe that's open 24 hours. It's on the opposite side of the free way from Target and It's by Best Buy and Kinko's. What about Monday, November 2 at 7:00 pm? Would anyone be down for meeting at that time?

I live in Beaumont! Well, Vidor, but that's close enough. This is my first year attempting this, so I'm more than a little nervous, but really excited. Good luck, my fellow South East Texans!

I will be at Sertino's on Monday at 7 pm if anyone wants to stop by and chat or write. I'll have my laptop with me!

This is my first try here. I've written other books, but none in a month. Happy to meet some local writing people.

Also, I will try and show tomorrow at Sertino's, but I don't think I can make it. I have some other things to do after class and then homework. orz

Would everyone like to meet this Sunday, November 8? We can meet at Sertino's (they have free wi-fi) maybe in the afternoon some time...3 pm? To have a write-in?

It's bringing your laptop in or notebook and sitting there together writing with maybe some occasional breaks to talk or eat, etc. It's like a group writing session. I know that when the events first kicked off there were many "write-ins" starting at midnight November first.

I just thought it'd be nice to meet some of the fellow writers and write together this weekend.

I think a write in would be awesome =)

Sunday would be a good day as well as I'm off then.

Edited because I realized there is already someone explaining where Sertino's is -_-

OMG, you guys, I have been gone for so long! I started this thread and then I totally left you guys, I'm so sorry. I hope you guys don't mind if I add some of you as buddies, even though I know I'm a little late in the game at this point. I lost my internet and started a new job and it's been totally crazy. I'm really glad to see that there are other people in this area that are doing this though and if you guys have any more write-ins let me know and I'll try to swing by, I would love to be a part of that! Anyway, Happy writing to all of you!
