Any Skooks doing NaNo?

I'm in Frackville, and this is my 3rd NaNo. I skipped last year, so I'm really excited to get started!

Cressona. =] We're really close! This is my first time. I don't know if I'll be able to finish, but I'll sure as heck try.

wow, we are really close!

My first year, I wasn't sure if I could finish, but I finished a week early! I think it helps to know what motivates you and when is the best time for you to write. Though I did a little too much planning the first year, and I got bored with my story. The second time around, I didn't plan at all, and it was a lot more fun.

Good luck and check in with your progress when NaNo starts! :)

Good evening, all! I'm in Frackville and this is my first year doing NaNo. I was browsing through the regions, and I was going to join the Harrisburg one as I would like to attend one of their write-ups at Borders!

Schuylkill County needs a Barnes and Noble/Borders....lol. Oh well, it's so nice to see other skooks who will be participating this year.

What genre is everyone aiming for, if I may ask? I'm going for Young Adult. :)

Wow, someone from Frackville! I didn't think I'd see anyone else from my town! :)

I'm having a tough time figuring out which genre I'm doing... it might fit with "speculative fiction," though I'm still not totally clear on the genre specifics. Mine's basically a negative utopia (or dystopia). It has some fantasy (though not all magic & magical creatures) and some romance.

We definitely need a Borders or Barnes and Noble around here!

Mind if I add you as a NaNo buddy?

Oh my gosh, another person from Cressona? That's AWESOME, I didn't think I'd see anyone so close to me! How exciting!

I'm not really sure what mine classifies as. It's got a supernatural feeling to it, I'm guessing it's young adult fiction? I'm horrible at classifying things. *blushblush*

I'm so surprised there are a bunch of us from Schuylkill County!

I have to ask if anyone would want to meet up during November for a write-in. We don't have a Barnes and Noble, but we've got Dunkin Donuts, diners, restaurants, etc., that might be ideal.

Let me know if anyone's interested and what day of the week would be best (and possible locations). It'd be fun to meet other NaNo-ers!

That sounds exciting!

I would be possibly game for a write-in. Dunkin Donuts would be good and more well-known to all, but I would also like to make a mention that the Sage Tea Garden in Pottsville (it's easy accessible) could be another option too. As of this time, weekday evenings would be best for me.

Sure, you can add me as a writing buddy! =)

Ooh, the Sage Tea Garden sounds good, too! I've never been there, but I love tea!

Oh, and I love your Ghandi quote! It's one I use often, too.

If you mean the Dunkin Donuts in Pottsville, on 61... lol I'm there every night. Free WiFi + me not having my own connection = a lot of donut-scented clothes. I think I know where the Sage Garden place is as well, but I can't be sure. >.< And I'm only free on weekends, as I work full-time, second shift. =[ I suck.

Thank you! :)

Yeah, Sage is pretty cool. They even serve bubble tea too. :)
I'm not sure if they do offer free wi-fi, however....

Wow, I didnt expect to see so many people from around here. xD
I'm from originally from Shamokin, but I live in Gordon now. Pretty much in the middle of nowhere if you ask me. xD
Also, my only internet or even computer connection right now is through my less than perfect Krave, so doing much at all on the site is rather annoying, unfortunately.

I think I'm doing well. I'm ahead of schedule, but I expect that to change by the end of next week. I have a busy week at work and I'm doing all dayshifts. I'm great at writing in the morning and early afternoon, but by 3pm, I'm usually done for the day. So I'm not expecting to write a whole lot next week.

How's yours going?

And is anyone else losing their sanity already? I've done so many silly things this week... ha ha!

At the last second, my sister and I decided to get together to try to write after I got off work. We're at DD in St. Clair right now, actually. :)

We're trying to write and not talk, but that's very difficult. We've ended having our characters eat pumpkin donuts... ha ha!

If you mean losing sanity by losing hours of sleep, then yes, lol. A friend of mine suggested getting up very early in the morning to write which is when her inspiration for writing is the highest, and I will have to try that sometime. Seriously....lol.

My novel has been going pretty well. The plot and dialogue is even flowing nicely too. A friend of mine and I have a mission f hitting 30K before the weekend is over, lol.

My one question is... Are you guys actually use the names of places that you know in real life in your novel? I was skeptic about doing this, but then I was thinking about describing some actual places that I know in real life but just call them a different name in my story.

Haha...I loved how the thought of pumpkin donuts randomly inspired you to add it to your novel. I could totally see myself doing the same thing, lol.

I don't tell a lot of people cos I'm not particularly good at it. The reason I'm there every night though is because I'm a member of Role-Play games online, and I have to reply to people. XD I guess that's like mini-writing? I didn't know you were into it either!

They say the second year doing NaNo is the toughest, but for me this year, my third, has been the most difficult. I'm managing to keep up with the daily word count goals, but when I look at my word counts from previous years, I get discouraged. With my others, I was at least 10k ahead of where I am now.

I'm confident that I'll finish, but I'm just slower this year than normal for some reason.

How's everyone else doing?
