I have successfully completed Nano the last two years and am looking for other writers on the southside of Atlanta who may want to get together in the Fayette-Coweta area this November for write-ins or just general helpful meetings.

Is there any good locations around these areas that could act as a "central" location for all of us interested to meet for write-ins? I just moved here about 3 months ago, and all I know is how to get to the Hobby Lobby in Fayettville and how to get to Atlanta. And anything super close to 75.

I am in Henry County too (Ellenwood) near Stockbridge. I would love to get something together on our side of town! I am hoping to complete this year. I didn't get to participate last year due to life being overwhelming.

yes I feel you with the "life overwhelming" part", but just do the best you can. I would like to meet on a regular basis somewhere south of atlanta. I am in clayton, but who will take such a large group sitting for hours? Any suggestions? I am all ears.

I guess the real question is how north is too far north? I know Hapeville (next to the airport) has a 24 hrs Dwarf house (except on Sundays). Or are you talking more of Morrow or Fayetteville? If the Morrow area, you could always go to Southlake Mall's Food Court. No one would care how long anyone sat as long as it's not closing time. Fayetteville? There's always Starbucks, Barnes and Noble and heck I bet if we talked to the management, Stevie-B's (next to that Hobby Lobby mentioned above) would probably let people sit for an extended spell.

gosh the more I think about it, the more I'm thinking that it's hard to figure out if we'd eventually be asked to leave any place. I'm trying to think up of ideas to contribute, but I'm totally not coming up with anything. I think maybe we should pick a region first that we'd want to go to and then figure out things from there.

Yeah, I wouldn't worry about being asked to leave. That should only be a consideration when finalizing the location. Most write-ins last about 2-3 hrs. Obviously restaurants frown on that length of time but there a few exceptions. Generally coffee shops and book stores are best for those lengths of time.
You're right though, narrowing down the region is where it needs to start.

Good morning, Southside NaNoWriMoers!
My name is Lesley Williams and I am a past winner of NaNoWriMo. I work at a public library in Coweta County and we will be hosting write-in sessions at the Central Library on Mondays from 5-7 p.m. beginning November 2nd. and concluding on November 30th. Our library is equipped with free wi-fi and we have a cafe space where NaNoWriMoers can meet. We'll even provide the coffee - just come out and write!

Generally, places aren't going to have a problem with people staying if they're not too loud and are buying things (even if it's only a drink). What I do is call ahead of time and ask if it's okay for a group to hang out for a while and the response has been quite positive. Try and give them a number/range you expect and specific days/hour(s) you plan to be there.
Unfortunately, the south side is a stretch for me, but if there's anything I can do short of being physically present... :)

the library is definitely too far away for me. I was getting all excited about the write ins on mondays at a place with the works, and then I google mapped and got directions telling me it would take me 51 minutes of travel time to get there. It would a shorter drive if I attend something going on in the city. =(

I've spent countless hours at the Barnes & Noble on Mt. Zion in Morrow (near the movie theater). But I'm open to other places on the southside.

Well, tomorrow I got invited to a friend's place to watch the premier of "V." I hope it's as good as everyone says the old version is. I dunno when that starts, but I have to leave 30 min prior to get to Atlanta in time. So...sometime before then.
Just in case I can't go tomorrow though, I decided to come right now. I wanted some hot chocolate I didn't have to make (though I make some pretty darn good hot chocolate). I'm going to be at the Mt. Zion Barnes & Nobles until around 7:45 because I have to make it back for House! haha

Ok, so V starts at 8. So I'm probably going to be at Barnes & Noble anywhere between 2:30 (when class ends for me) and 7:20 (when I will leave for ATL). Usually around 5 that road is only a little messy due to rush hour, and by 6 it's regular. I say 4 to 6 something? It allows us to travel before and after all the bad stuff on the roads (at least to my knowledge). And it also doesn't conflict too bad with dinner times. IDK I'm pretty flexible, so what can yall do?
So yes, for those of you who don't know, google maps shows pretty accurate traffic conditions. If you're ever worried about what kind of traffic you're about to get into, just check there. lol [end randomness]
