Hey everyone. Just giving my usual same old same old. :)

All you oldbies know the drill by now. But for the newcomers, here's how I/we roll.

As far as write-ins go, you, the members of the region, are far better and more efficient at organizing them than I could ever hope to be. You know the local hangouts, you communicate with other people who live near you. You work out a system that suits as many people as you possibly can. It's so much easier on all of us than someone like me, who most likely ISN'T local, telling you where and when to meet during the week.

This year we have a new fancy feature that embeds the calendar right into our cozy little regional lounge. Already there are a few events listed there like the major parties and a few write-ins that have been made known ahead of time.

But there's still plenty of room for more!

If a write-in has been arranged for your area, no matter how impromptu, please drop me (or Jamie or Pat) a note and we'll add it to the regional calendar. You never know who will be looking to bang some words out among fellow masochists and coffee. There is no minimum number of people in order to create a write-in. Are you going to be typing at your local Panera for a few hours on a Wednesday night? That's a write-in too.

The only thing I strongly recommend is that if you are attending a write-in hoping to actually meet people, please bring something that identifies you as a wrimo. Wear a Nanowrimo t-shirt or bring a table tent (I'll be handing tents out at the Kickoff). There have been times where hopeful write-in attendees missed out on an event because they were unable to locate the rest of the party (and who feels totally comfortable asking complete strangers if they are word warring?). No one likes to see that happen.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask. :)

Menlo B&N in Edison had its first NaNoWriMo write-In last night. Great group to start off the 2009 write-ins thanks to Sarah, Nav, Beth, Lisa, Katie C, Jamie and myself. Sarah, Nav, Beth and Lisa you missed Katie by about 10 miuntes, we ended up closing the store.

We had all newbies last night so if the veteran NaNoWriMo show up we can take over the Cafe next week.

Keep uping the word count Central Jersey!

I had a fun time doing my first write-in last night. I realize that Menlo Park is a far far ways away from home in New Brunswick (which is why I ran out so far, I tried to catch the bus) but i'm definitely going to do it again. It was quite inspiring to be around other writers who are all in the midst of this grand project.
