I noticed there are a few Nano participants on Google Wave already. Anyone figured out something neat to use it for beyond status updates, word wars etc.?

Moderator Note: There is now a thread just for the discussion of Google Wave, right here.

Mashable guide

It's a combination of google docs, e-mail, and googletalk. Plus more. If it works, it's going to be a paradigm shift in how we use the internet.

Mee! Meeeee! *is pretty excited*

I can see it being used for outlining--getting ideas and others from such. For example, I'd like to put my plot outline up (y'know, once I have one) and share it with other NaNoers, and have them give suggestions about how it could be improved/whatever.

Or the same for the novel itself, I guess, although probably in chapter-size chunks or something.

Sort of like track changes in Word or similar features in other programs, y'know?

I also put things in google docs so i can go back and see my changes. If I can get Wave working with my blog and stuff, and maybe a nice distraction free editor, Then I could write in wave and know that my revisions will always exist. I can see Wave completely replacing google docs for me.

I just barely got an invite (from a non nanoing friend) and I have to say this is really neat (plus, Firefly references for the win (in the error reports))!

I could definitely see this being useful for nanoing.

If anyone has an extra invite, could they send it my way at outburst@ ymail.com (minus the space between the @ and the y)?

I thought I had signed up to receive an invite... but apparently Google doesn't like me too much.

One of my ideas for this year was to let others suggest things to write in my novel. (Where things can be anything from a prop, a character, a situation, a plot point, whatever...) The idea was to start writing on Nov 1, post up my novel as I write it and have somewhere for others to suggest ideas of what to do next. I'm not planning on publishing, so having it publicly accessible isn't a problem (aside from the potential for a bruised ego!).

Wave could be a good way of doing this.

I'm all out of invites and it looks like google isn't allowing the people I invited to send out their own invites (yet.) I have a wave going with everyone I invited, anyone else that already has wave wants in, just let me in know your wave email and I'll add you in.

I requested an official invite Here: https://services.google.com/fb/forms/wavesignup/.
I think it would be nice to have it before NaNo to wave with friends and urge people on, have races and get opinions on plot problems.

But if anyone has a spare. lol.

Yeah, the problem is that the people who got invited can't invite other people. They're starting this really small.

If anyone has an invite:

alienscout+013 [at] gmail [dot] com

Remove the spaces and format it properly, of course. (keep the +013 in there.)
